Full Off 3 Pieces Of Watermelon? Uh Oh..am Scared~!

Recommended Posts

So I tried some seedless watermelon, which my NUT said was okay since its Water base while on the mushie diet. Well I hate 3 small bites and I am full! Mind u, this weekend i had tilapia and it came back up, and am starting to think its because I was eating too fast. I noticed that after each bite its best for me to pause for at least 5 mins and then take the next bite. I did this with the watermelon and I feel the difference! I am stuffed to the brim.

My question is, how long will this occur or is this permanent? I mean, will I ever be able to eat more than a few bites of anything? My surgeon said my stomach will stretch over time but I of course want hear it from my friends on the forum!

Yes, your sleeve will "stretch". Actually, the swelling inside it will go down and you'll have increased capacity. I can eat 4 or 5 bites of watermelon now and it's really good, but I'm full. I usually do fruit as Snacks instead of with meals for just that reason.

Thank the lord! I grabbed a watermelon quarter and was full after 4 spoonfuls. I read somewhere watermelon was not allowed until you hit regular foods. I LOVE watermelon, so I am glad I am allowed to eat it!

I'm the same as Lissa. I can only have a few cubes of watermelon. But eat them as a snack. But it's my go to snack when I'm craving something naughty. Don't know why but it kills my cravings for much worse Snacks. I love watermelon. And yes my swelling has gone down considerably. I can eat more than a few bites of food now but no more than a 1/2 cup depending on what it is. But I'm ok with that. :)

I think I was one of those with a sensitive stomach early on and I had no problem with watermellon early on. Probably was my first real food to think back on it.

I can eat up some watermelon. I was thinking it was a slider, then all you people say you are getting full fast. I had a large hunk yesterday. I dunno...

My doc told me our sleeve Is like a new leather shoe, at first it is really tight and form fitting and uncomfortable, then as you wear it more it loosens and adjusts and feels comfortable to you. Thought that was a good analogy.

I, too, can eat quite a bit of watermelon. I bought a cup of it with lemon and chili powder and tapatio the other day and I was able to eat it all, took about 45 mins, but I did it. I guess that would be considered grazing.....

I think that every bite of food you take after you get to solids is all trial and error- things loved before I cannot have and things I really didnt care for have become my norm. One day I can eat eggs the next not so much- it is very fickle and very weird- You just have to take it 1 day at a time and for a while stick with what doesnt make you sick but fills you up- I can promise you this- I ate so much Jello that if you paid me a million bux I wouldnt eat it now.. lol same for broth-- haha.. so you live and learn- this whole sleeve is like starting all over again and babies take baby steps... sorry for that analogy but it works...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
