Strike Up The Band

Recommended Posts

I am in Banderville !!! Things were running a bit late yesterday so I didn't get my band until around 3 in the afternoon. Iwas scheduled for 1:15. So far everthing seems to be going good. Mostly sore, not actual pain. It was something for me crossing that plateau of getting the band, now on to the loosing. Two of the incisions kept bleeding a bit last night so put a extra gauze pad on each one and now they are fine. Yes, it does kinda feel like I've been beat up a bit. All the people that work at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery are great! A big :clap2: THANK YOU :clap2: to everyone there. :( :biggrin1:

Congratulations! The best advice I got was walk, walk, walk, (only a little at a time!) and sip, sip, sip, (again, a little at a time!). Take your Gaviscon.

Get your rest!

Glad you are doing well!

Welcome to BandLand MrD!

Take it nice and slow, follow your doctors orders, and you'll be line dancing in no time!

Here's a tip I learned from my doctor - I don't know WHY it makes a difference but is DOES - refridgerated Maalox Max works 10 times better than the same Maalox Max at room temperature. Weird, but true. Maybe something about the cold reducing swelling . . . I don't know, but my Maalox lives in the fridge now.

Best wishes for fast recovery!

Wishing you a quick recovery.

I'll add my congrats too - the soreness and beat up feeling passes pretty quickly so hang in there. And DonnaB thanks for the maalox tip - i have several bottles now in the house and in the fridge they go tonight.

Thanks everyone, still feeling pretty much ok, my main problem is the incision above my belly button. I think maybe that is where my port is, feels a bit tight there. I will have to email my doc and ask where he put the port. I wasn't in much of an asking questions mood when I was waking up if you know what I mean

If it was done laparoscopically, most of the incisions should be quite small. The port incision will be the largest of between 4 and 6 incisions. The port itself is probably not directly under the incision but a little way away from it. Mine is about 2 inches toward my belly button from the incision.

Congratulations!! I was banded at NWWLS in early August, but had Dr. Montgomery. I think Dr. Michaelson is SO great, though. He's such a compassionate guy, and so talented. Anyway, welcome to this side of it :D

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
