Any Bay Area California Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am from the bay area. I grew up in Campbell but live in Marin County now, I will be having my surgery at Kaiser in Richmond. I have an appointment with the surgeon on 10/11/12. Im still not absolutly sure but lean more towards yes than no. I too have been looking for people in the area to follow and talk to about the whole journey. Feel free to contact me. I will continue to follow you too! good luck to you

I live in Monterey but am self-pay - so I've been shopping cost. I'm going to have mine done in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin.

How much was this Dr in Louisiana? I'm from there and would be tempted if it comes down to ins. Denying me....

Just got back from my appt with Dr. Fisher at Kaiser in Richmond. He seemed really nice and helped me to finalize my decision for the sleeve. He wants me to lose 8 more pounds and then I would be able to schedule surgery. Really happy with that news!! If all goes well I should have surgery before the year is out... Next appt. is with psychologist on 10/19. Hope everyone else is feeling as positive on their journey. I would love to talk to anyone in the area going through the same hospital.

thanx

Hi Missrose

I'm in almost the exact same position as you! Also going through Kaiser Richmond with Dr Fischer and have 8 lbs to lose :)

I had my visit with the psychologist last week.

Fingers crossed we can both get rid of these last 8 lbs and get our surgery dates scheduled

Jules

Hello Jules, so happy to know someone else going through Richmond. Ive kind of had a bad week :( . I hope to get back on track starting tomorrow. I would love to continue to follow each other. I go back and forth with the nerves but try to stay upbeat and just keep researching. Ive found some really great web sites that help too. So lets do this!

I can't believe what a hard week this has been. Visiting family in Central Valley. Car broke down so visit was extended and really threw me off my diet and exercise routine :( Tomorrow is a new day! Onward and back on track with a positive attitude! I HOPE

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
