Any Bay Area California Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Trish, Thank you so much for your words. It helps to hear someone who has been through it and is so upbeat, even with your problems. I was contemplating putting off my psych appoint. tomorrow but Im going to keep it. You gave me the incentive to continue this journey....I wont lie Im a little scared but I know I can do this :)

Thank you again,

Marcia

I agree. Only you know what's best for you. Dr Fisher wouldn't have approved you for surgery if he felt it wasn't beneficial to you

Don't let your family get you down. Maybe they will come around. And age shouldn't matter! It's about your health. If this is something you feel strongly about doing and feel its the best thing for you and your Dr agrees then you should do what is right for you.

I hope you're family can see the benefits and be excited and happy for you :)

Hang in there!

Julianne

Gosh, I started this thread some time ago, then have been going back and forth about the surgery.

I started my whole journey with the sleeve on June 13 at 255.1, today, 199.6 with a surgery date of November 21 with Dr Robert Li in South San Francisco.

I'm in Santa Cruz and would love to talk to other local sleevers, so please get in touch.

Nana in Watsonville, I can't see to private message you, but please let's get together, as well as anyone else on this side of the hill

Sounds good to me. I had my surgery on Oct. 30th, 6 days post and I AM MISERABLE! My #1 reason to have this surgery was because I was taking 27 pills a day and saw no other way out. Well I forgot why I was taking a pre-menopause medication… HOT FLASHES….well that night after surgery the hot flashes started up again. The nurses put ice packs on my feet! It had been a good 2 years since I had one! Needless to say at 1am I am outside on the front porch dying! LOL….When I am in the middle of a hot flash I just wanna chug the cold Water. :( SF popsicles have been my #1 BFF! I am now hoping to find herbal medication. Another weird thing is my tastebuds are not working or maybe they are, because I can not find anything to eat that I like and this includes my Protein Shakes I use to love. :(

I got my surgery date! And it's two weeks from today! I'm excited and nervous at the same time

I'm mostly nervous that when I go tomorrow to meet with the case manager I will have gained weight and she will cancel everything!

Today I'm doing my lab work and tomorrow I'll be at Kaiser Richmond all day for a class, physical, and meet with case manager.

It's all happening so fast!!

How was your weekend? How are things going with you?

Jules

Cant wait to hear all about it  I am so excited for you!! I hope I am right behind you. It will be nice to share and help each other through all the ups and downs. Now we really need to try and meet before your surgery. Is this going to interfere with your trip to Texas? Good luck with everything.

hello Meegan, there is a WLS support group in SF through a meetup board. It is the first Saturday of each month. I will be attending the Richmond Kaiser support group and that one I believe is twice a month on the 1st and 3 wednsdays of the month. If you find any other local support groups please share. I live in Greenbrae.

Thanx,

:)Marcia

Hi Marcia,

I'm still trying to figure this site out. I didn't even get notified that you wrote me. Thank you! I'm so surprised there isn't a support group in San Rafael. There must be other sleevers, or other WLS patients in the area. My son is in lots of sports, so weekends aren't the best. I'm going to try the Wednesday night ones if I can't find anything closer. Thanks for your advice! Meegan Lee

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
