Everyone here is willing to listen to what you are doing and give any suggestions we might have!

When was your surgery? How much have you lost? How much do you have to lose? What food progression are you on? Are you getting all of your fluids in? Do you get all of your Protein? Are you taking your Vitamins? Do you track your food anywhere? Do you exercise? If so, what sort of things are you doing? All of those things will help us give you our thoughts!

Are you working out or walking? What's your cal/fat/sugar intake? Smaller you get, you lose slower. Maybe it's just a stall, in which you may not lose # but inches (:

How many calories are you getting in? Your weight loss looks about like mine did at 2 months out (see the bottom of my signature). Stalls are pretty normal. If you are getting your fluids and Protein and avoiding bad carbs plus exercising I am sure it's just a normal stall!

My nut has me watching cal Protein & sugar intake but concentrating on liquids first (still early in the process, only on purée). Ive seen in the threads it can last a couple weeks, but that's when your body in inches start catching up with your weight. I'm waiting because I know I'll hit one in the next week or two by the way my weight loss per week is slowing (21, 8, and 5 this past week)

Random ? But are you having bms? My nut also told me there may be points I need to return to liquids for a little. I guess if I get constipated to help move things along?

It sounds like you are doing fine to me. It has not even been 2 months and you have lost 34lbs! You have to stop and think of how amazing that is and try not to compare to others. Stalls are totally normal. I have had stalls that last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, especially the farther out you get (I am 18 months post op). People with less the lose a lot of times do not lose as fast, but you have to look at it percentage wise. I know someone that lost over 200 lbs in 1 year. That being said, she still weighs more than I did before my surgery.

Lastly, do not get discouraged. I was a slow loser. I had 80lbs to lose. I lost the first 55lbs in the first 6 months, and I just reached my goal about week ago. I have learned not to compare. In the past I have lost weight, once 80lbs and once 70lbs on my own. It took me over 2 years of killing myself to do it. I would have never lost 80 lbs in 18months without the sleeve. Hang in there!

I wonder how resting metabolic rate plays into stalling. (I am pre-op so only having a surgery stall. J/k. Lol) when the Dr tested my metabolic rate it came back that I burn thousands of calories at rest! I have a good metabolism if those tests are at all accurate. I kinda take it with a grain of salt, though. I'll be curious to see just what kind of looser I am. :)

Whoops wrong thread. I'm such a newbie ;)

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
