Chronicles of Cloe!!!!!

Recommended Posts

of course you were missed, Cloe!!

Sorry to hear you were not well.....you will feel even better soon as the "proper" meds kick in. I had a bad kidney infection last year, so I can relate to the pain....(thankfully no stones).....the meds work wonders!! Take care though!!

Cloe, so sorry you were not feeling well, i thought you were just busy with Deputy Mayor Business, it scares you to go the hospital these days, they seem to do that a lot these days, mis-diagnosis.

Glad you are feeling better, and happy to see you back with us. Take good care of yourself, and drink lots of Water.< /p>

Maria :)

.

The real dumb thing about the hospital was that I told them I think it might be my kidneys when I first got there.

Let that be a lesson to all of us. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil. If you think you are right, it's your health and we should all insist on getting things checked out. I was once misdiagnosed with a case of scabies, my rash was actually hives. I wanted to go back to that Dr. and tell him off.. I worked in that hospital (were I was diagnosed) I was so embarrassed not to mention all the work cleaning all of the linen and the trip to the pharmacy to buy the treatment for scabies. My misdiagnosis did not cause a life threatening event but a kidney infection could have been potentially very dangerous.

I did go went through the whole laundry thing. To make things worst after a few days of the treatment, I call the Doc to say that the rash was getting worse. He met me at the hospital and from 10 feet away he told me to continue the treatment. The next day I saw a real Doc. He asked me why I thought I had scabies because they were hives, NOT scabies. I was sooooo mad!

Hi Guys!!

Yes, feeling like myself again, thanks. On a good drug til next Monday then back to my doc's, then a ultrasound a week later to check for kidney stones. I think I sould go visit the emerg doc and ask her to pay me for my weeks worth of lost wages, dont you???

Just catching up on all the stuff that got left last week. I think my illness kick-started weight loss again for me, thats neat.

How's everyone doing on there Christmas shopping??

Hey Mandi, I can't wait to here how your mom and dad are going to re-act when they see you. I get goosebumps thinking about it. I wanna be there.:)

I think you should at least go to the emerg. and telll her to get her ass back to school, cause a sore back's alot different than kidney stones. Then punch her in the face, THEN, take all her money, and that'll be your lost wages!

Who does the bus thing when you can't?

I have a few things left to buy... should be going Moncton next weekend, so maybe I'll wait til then to see if I can find anything better than I can here.

I emailed my dad and asked him to explain to my mom that how much I've lost *IS* good, and even better than where I should ideally be at at this point in the game. Cause I'm worried that when she knows that I'm at, say, 90lbs lost, she'll say "Oh, I thought you'd be down at least a 100 by now". It's kinda like when you got 85% on a test, and were soooo proud, then your parents would ask where the other 15% went. I dunno guys, I'm not really seeing the difference. Yeah my clothes are smaller, but that's about it. Oh yeah... I've got squishy pants. LOL Today is my 8 month bandiversary, so I think I'll get decked out in my comparison photo outfit (scary), and take some pictures.

Dan and I took a Xmas picture on Sat. night... well, a picture to give his parents and mine for Xmas. My parents don't have any recent (in the last 10 years) pics of me, and no one has a pic. of me and him, so... thought that would be nice.

Mandi, do you honestly not see the difference?? I'm only asking cause, okay don't take this wrong cause I'm totally happy, sometimes I think I should be more excited. Is it because it's a gradual thing. When people ask me how much I've lost so far they always freak out and say, you must be so excited. And I am, really I am, but somehow I thought it would be different. I hope I'm not frowning anyone, caus4e I truly am 100% into my lap-band and I am thrilled. Okay big confession.........................The more I lose (and I live to lose) the more I pick up on other things, like stretch marks, saggy skin, and thoughts like....oh ya, I forgot how much I alway hated my ankles. I would never do anything different than my lap-band experience, it so takes the pressure off, but lately I have been reminded the way I use to think and quit possibly the reason I got so fat to start with. I hope you can relate or else I feel real dumb now. So, I'm just wondering if thats maybe why you don't see a difference. Cause I'm sure everyone else does!!!!

Hi everyone,

I must confess I haven't even begun shopping - I've finally made my list - does that count?? I haven't even started the cards to mail. I was waiting for kids school pics (late this year)

I have had a kidney infection recently and it wasn't fun. I'm happy that you got some good medication for it Cloe. You'll have to take care of yourself and keep hydrated.

On the other topic - I do love the feel of my skin - it feels softer or silkier. I haven't told many about my band - I don't want to be under a microscope. But the weight loss is very noticable and everyone asks how I'm doing it. I have so much more energy for the important things. I can hardly wait for the next 10 lbs.

I am looking forward to seeing my mother in law over Christmas - not the trial of coping with the huge amount of food and treats - but she has been so very supportive - compared to my mother. I think body issues are a part of losing but how we deal with them is a bigger issue.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Glad to hear u are doing better Cloe..... yay!!

Mandi....it's all in our self-image....I can understand that you might not see a HUGE difference (cause of that whole body dysmorphic disorder thing that we likely all have) but you just have to trust everyone and "logic" on this one....people are going to flip out when they see you!!

Angel Bear...you are doing fantastic!!! I"m like you....I go for the 10 lbs....then the next, then the next etc.....makes it not seem so insurmountable.

Mandi, that is such a nice idea about the photos....they will love it.

We are almost done our Xmas shopping!!! Only two more things to get.....once again we ended up spending so much more than we would like.....I just wish we wouldn't exchange gifts with anyone; it would make it so much more simpler!

Oh...and Cloe...no....you're not crazy (well, you are, but not about what you said up there!) LOL>

I"m sure we can all relate to some extent. I don't like to tell anyone how much I've lost....because they freak out and then I can see them looking at me and thinking, "geez, it doesn't look like she has lost almost 60 lbs....she is still so big". (cause, I am!). And then it bothers me that they will think, "gee she has lost 60 lbs but look at her, she must have soooooooo much more to lose"...."holy crap how much did she weigh in the first place"!!!! LOL.

So, yeah, I getcha.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
