Two Weeks Out And Need Help

Recommended Posts

Can't believe that I am up 1.6 pounds. My recovery is great. I gave no pain or anything. So I decide to eat what I wanted as long as it was soft foods. This has been a big mistake because most of the foods consist of sugar, carbs, and starch. Now I need to get back on track. What do I need to do? I like to drink Decaf coffee is that a problem? Please help me I know I got to do the right thing. I wanted to go to support but the next support group is not until the 19.

if u know u r eating poorly then stop lol. the weight gain could be perfectly normal. about 3 weeks out i gained 2 lbs and hit a stall. i just kept following the plan and after 2 weeks the scale went down again. remember, Protein first! at 2 weeks u shouldn't be past mushies so be careful. even if u feel ok u can still damage ur sleeve.

Decaf coffee is not the problem. Do you have a post op diet you are supposed to follow? If so then that's where to find the answers.

Sugars, carbs, & starch is the problem. Do you have a nutritionist? I really think you should see one.

You need to be focusing on giving your body high quality nourishment.

Remember.... Garbage in Garbage out <------ it's an old computer programming term but it works here too. If you feed your body garbage then it's gonna give you garbage results.

Now you know what not to do, time to reset & do it right. We are all on your side.

In case by some slim chance you weren't given direction from your Doc then you can use the web address below.

The best help anyone can give you is to tell you to follow the plan set out for you be your doctor.

Sugar carbs and starch are what got you in the situation you are in now. You need to get back on the strict guidelines your doctor gave you. You need to take this healing time to get past the bad eating habits. Trust me it is worth it!!

I did too and I was upset, my doc said drink more Water and just wait, now at week 3 1/2 it's like melting off in my sleep. So it'll come off, just wait, share concerns with NUT and you'll pee out like 3lbs a day

Caution! Just because you feel good doesn't mean you are completely healed inside. That takes time. Talk to your nutritionist. I am two week out 3 weeks tomorrow and I'm eating sugar free pudding, sugar free yogurt, cottage cheese, cream of wheat, pureed Soups and occassionally mashed potatoes and baby food. Still doing sugar free Jello and ice pops.

78 grams of Protein a day

Minimum 48 ounces of fluids

Either 1/2 cup or 1 cup depending on what it is.

Talk to your doctor or nutritionist

Definitely stop what you are doing and reset. Talk with your surgeon or Nut and get back on track. I have been very tempted since moving to puree, but I am more terrified of causing damage and I didn't go through all this stress and pain to just go back to my old habits.

Just wondering why you would go through all the trouble to have the sugery and then go back to old eatng habits. The sleeve is just a tool, but you have to be smart about using it. Many people are not mentally ready for the change and it is a big change. Think about why you had the sleeve and what you wanted to gain from it.

Oh, wait didn't read the entire post- I'm a bit dyslexic. I never ate what I wasn't supposed to, but when I first got out I followed doc to the letter and still had no weight loss. Definitely reset- get the Protein Shakes in and let it be a new you

sleeve523, did you see a nutritionist through your process before getting the surgery? She/he should've given you a program to follow. You back slid a bit. I see a therapist that really helps me with my food addiction. We didn't get this way just by eating what we like, there is a reason we over eat. When you can't make a support group or they are too far ahead and you need help, you would have the therapist that you could call..just a suggestion. Glad you came here for help, don't know if you got the answers you were looking for but hope it shed some light.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
