P90X? Mixed Martial Arts? Too Intense?

Recommended Posts

Anyone use these types of work outs with success?

I keep in mind, we are "special"- we consume 900-1200 calories a day, and perhaps we shouldnt be getting too "hard core"? Or is it a good idea to hit the work outs hard to burn stored fat?

I'm personally at the 7 month mark, so I'm essentially "healed" and my energy is level. I work out with trainers now who are aware of my surgery and take it fairly hard (for me), we box and do a lot of heavy weights

Depending on your current body weight and bone structure. Keep an eye on those high impact work outs and the effect they have on your joints. Otherwise, go for it and let us hear about the results!!

Pookey, Are you a Larper? I remember seeing some guy who was into that on a reality tv show. It looked like he really enjoyed himself.

I hope we can, I am not yet sleeved. I do kickboxing (Muay Thai) and hope I can go back once I am healed.

My hubby and I did P90 for a while about a year before surgery, it's intense and I was only doing modified versions of most of the stuff they did because I physically couldn't do it! I will one day though!

I do Crossfit 3x a week and it is bru-tal, but awesome! The 2nd day after a workout is the most painful, and that's the day I'm doing it again, so I'm continuously sore but in a good way ;) It is SO satisfying to strain and sweat and gasp and feel my muscles burn now, because it is earned authentically, and not felt merely because I stood up from a chair or tried to walk up a flight of stairs =(. At last night's Crossfit I flipped tractor tired end over end, squatted endlessly with a barbell across my shoulders, did cartwheels, did handstands, and even attempted a one-handed handstand. At my heaviest it was a workout just getting strapped into an airplane seat =)

I did Tae Kwon Do in my younger/skinny days. It's an intense workout. I would be concerned about getting punched or kicked in the stomach. If your Doctor clears you for this type of work-out, Go for it!

heehee Blackberry, you were definitely an inspiration, along with a non-op friend of mine that has lost 50 lbs thus far from a combo of Crossfit & Weight Watchers, she is a Crossfit junkie and enthusiastically updates on Facebook regularly.

I've wanted to try cross fit for several years now but always felt too 'big' to give it a try. How far post op is it ok to do something as intense as cross fit? I'm 3 weeks post op and don't have much energy yet. I'm walking but I think that's about as much as I'm good for right now. When did you start doing more intense workouts?

My family and I just went to our first competitve jousting tournament. It was so much fun. I haven't done swordplay in years, but it was one of the competitive events. I helped some of the guys warm up and wasn't too rusty. I was only about weeks out from surgery and it was a great workout! I would LOVE if their were a troupe closer to home so I could go back to it. Do you compete?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
