Tomorrow I get banded! Right now I really want pizza. Just kidding, I've been liquiding up today because as of midnight no more fluids until after the operation, which isn't until 1:15 in the afternoon. Nervous, excited all at the same time. Bought some Gas-X just in case. I'm really doing this!! AAAAHHHH!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :peace: :lalala:  :flame: :shade: :drum:

Congratulations. Remember to force yourself to get out of bed and walk as soon as you can post-op to expand your lungs, get the circulation going, and prevent gas pains. Don't be afraid to use the pain medication and stay hydrated.

Update us as you recover.

Bring comfy easy to walk around in slippers...nothing slippery on the bottom hospital floors are slippery enough. This way when you get out of surgery you will be all set to run around the halls mooning everyone in your backless gown....anyway,...that's what I did.

I brought these great slip on loafer style lined slippers...easy to slip on and off, rubber soles for grip...excellent for mooning and running. They would never have caught me if it weren't for that telltale mole on the left cheek.

Best wishes, use your breathing toy thing alot (they give you this cool ball game that you blow in to float a ball) and walk to get rid of shoulder pain that some people get.

While you're at it, keep it fun for the nurses, ring the bell every few minutes and ask if your pizza arrived yet.

Mr D, congratulations on your surgery this afternoon! I hope you'll be home and recovering very soon!

503-250, you're killing me!! 'breathing toy thing"; cool ball game ? THAT was the name of the torture device I was fortunate enough to bring home??! I didn't develop pneumonia, so I guess I won the prize! While it's a necessary evil, on the plus side it helps you forget about the pain you're in - because you're too exhausted to breathe!

Mr D, make sure you let us know how you got along with the nurses... that is, when you're feeling up to it.

All the best,

Karla

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
