Tape Tape And More Tape

Recommended Posts

Good Morning Everyone,

I don't know if it's because i was in the hospital 6 days or what and had bandages on longer than usual, but any suggestions on how to get all this adhesive off of my belly...it's driving me crazy!!!!!!! I scrub everyday in the shower but don't want to irritate my surgical sites...???????

I've used nail polish remover before and it worked great, just be careful not to get it on your incisions. May I ask why you were in the hospital for 6 day? Hope you are healing well. Congrats on your sleeve!

Ribbing alcohol can work. However, be really careful with it. The Bariatric Coordinator at my hospital said just to keep doing soap & Water & it will eventually come off. He said they've seen many people come back to the hospital with infections because of trying to use various things to get the residue off. Therefore, if you try something else, be very careful!

I used alcohol wipes on the areas away from my cuts, then as the tape came off I used lotion with Vitamin E and finally got it all off...I think!

The reason i was in the hospital for 6 days was because i had a bleed on my staple line and I was on call to go back to the OR, I was transfused 7 times with no success, but through a Miracle i call it! The surgical team came up with a brilliant idea to take me off of the blood thinners and pump me up with IV fluids and no drinking for me just mouth swabs! So they drew my blood every 4 hours to see if my hemogloben went back up and sure enough it became stable and I was able to come home...The blood was absorbed in my body and didn't have to go back to the OR thank god!

Wow thats scary! I am glad you are doing ok now. I just today finally tackled all my adhesive spots.I was sleeved on the 29th. The rubbing alcohol worked great but I was very careful to keep the cotton balls away from my staples.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
