I think all of us that are trying to do the surgery with the help of insurance are worried that we won't be approved! Don't feel bad about thinking that! My last visit to my surgeon before submitting to the insurance is next week. Although I have several comorbidities, I still feel like my health may be 'too good' to be approved, but I'm praying that it works out. However, just in case, I decided to find a Plan B and for me that might mean crossing the border to MX for the surgery. It's definitely cheaper! And I can get in for surgery in August. At the beginning of this process, I would never have considered that, but the more I have read, the more it seems like a strong possibility. One of the finance options I have heard about is CareCredit.com. I hope this helps!

Which united healthcare plan? I have UHC community plan. What are the requirements? I'm nervous I'd be denied too

the requirements are minimal if you have a bmi over 40 you dont need to have any co morbitidies but for bmi over 35 you need to have sleep apnea or blood pressure or diabetes for them to consider coverage ive heard that they are pretty good about approving & very quick to approve keep in high hopes :) & faith whats your bmi ?

My BMI is 44 with maybe 1 or 2 co-morbitities. Does united healthcare require a 6 month supervised weigh in/diet? I'm new to all of these, but I have my first info. seminar to attend on Thursday...then I can make my initial consultation :)

I was interested in WLS and have UHC insurance but because my bmi is a little under 40 nor do I have co-morbidities just the usual high cholesterol I gave up on it. Was considering looking into Mexico now though.

I have uhc and am under 40. I've always lingered 38-39. Sadly, I was denied. I go for my sleep study next week. After I get the results I'm going to appeal. Good luck to you.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
