Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)

Recommended Posts

Saw FIL at the ICU on Sat. He seemed in good spirits. Found out today that this morning he got moved out of ICU into a regular room....so he is doing better and may be out of the hospital by the end of the week (hopefully).

Then went to MIL place for TGiving dinner and spent the night; it all went okay. dinner was fine...nobody appeared to notice that I didn't eat much or anything although I seemed to get a few hairy eyeball looks for taking such a long time...thankfully my 6 year old nephew was taking his sweet ass time too! LOL.

AND....nobody noticed the 51 lb weight loss at all. No comments, no long looks, no hairy eyeballs.....nothing. I suppose that is okay since I don't want them knowing about the surgery and I therefore have avoided the "how did you do it" questions....but still....a bone woulda been nice!

But...as Mr Yoda says, all that is important is that I know and he (Mr. Yoda) knows.....I know he is right.....but a bone is still nice! LOL.

Hope everyone else had a good TGiving wknd (I know it isn't over yet but since I'm back home now I sorta feel mine is...plus Mr Yoda still has to work on the "holiday" tomorrow).

Glad to hear about your FIL, Yoda... good news :girl_hug:

Don't you worry about the no one noticing thing either... I feel your pain! LOL

It could also be a matter of people just not knowing what to say, or how to bring it up. Who knows.

And yes, congrats on hitting and passing the 50lb mark!! YAY!!!!

Glad to hear your FIL is doing better!!

I got some info on Saturday night, thought this is a good time to share. I was talking to another girl who has been banded a while, couple years I believe. She was telling me that she went through, what seems like we are all going through right now. That she had lost alot of weight 50+, feeling really great, but nobody said anything to her. She said it was sooooooo frustrating. Then about a few months later, and I guess with everybody the exact poundage would be different, but nobody could deny the fact 'she had lost alot of weight'. She said everything changed overnight. It was like a magical # she hit. She has now lost well over 100 lbs and looks great. But she said she can remember, like it was yesterday, that frustrating feeling of nobody noticing after all the hard work. She told me not to worry, it will happen for everyone. So to everyone, including me......PATIENCE !!!!......................:girl_hug:

I noticed, Yoda. Your typing seems lighter, about 50lbs lighter! Good job! People who hork and pork down food at the table tend to have a less refined palates. You savour every bite and enjoy the company at the table...6 year olds tend to tell it like it is anyways. "From the mouth of babes" I'd take a kids opinion any day.

Me:"Does my ass look fat in this?"

Kid:"Ya, pretty much!"

A child once came up to me in a grocery store and pointed at my belly and asked if I was having babies in there! Gotta love 'em!

haha...tks Mookie!

Okay, so I'm a happy camper; lost 3 lbs this week; that is the first time I've lost 3 lbs in a week since the first couple after surgery. Now if I only wish I knew what I did!! To be honest, I did nothing new...maybe it was just my body "catching up". Who knows. Maybe it just finally thought, "oh vey....she is a tough one and she ain't gonna feed us more so we may as well just shed these 3 lbs of fat we're hangin' onto"....I won't knock it. Of course, it is too good to be true and I prob should just hope for my one pound this week!

So, I'm at 55 down now....I know I should be proud/happy of that because I never thought I'd see the day when I would be in the 2"teens" again.....yay!!! Now I can't WAIT to see the 2"singles"!!!! Maybe in early Jan I'll be saying, can't wait to see the ONEderland world!!! Oh my!!! Dare I hope!!!

BTW, my sister came a visitin' me this weekend (she doesn't know) and she didn't seem to pick up on anything "weird" with my eating habits or anything. Hmmmm, she also didn't notice (or at least say anything) about the loss.

We had a GREAT time at Rama Casino though; we saw Tim Conway and Harvey Korman! What great memories of being a kid that brought back. We were permitted to stay up until 9:00 pm on Thurs to watch the Carol Burnett Show. We REALLY enjoyed it and they were amazing; I laughed sooooo much my throat hurt!!!! Gotta looooove those two. (they are now 72 and 80 respectively and still doing this!!). Anyways, all that to say, if you ever have a chance to see them....you must!!!

Hope ya'll had a fab weekend!

Okaaaaay, soooooo....I know my band is working!

Yesterday I had one of those "I can eat almost anything" days. They are very few and far between since my last fill and never as bad as it was yesterday. I sort of snacked all day yesterday....(not all "good" stuff, either). And, before I knew it I realized how much I had eaten throughout the day and I was like, "whoooooa.....whasssup???".

Then, when I got home from work, there was a couple of pieces of chocolate fudge cake (ohmigawd!!!) staring at me. So, I though, well, my band is letting things down today, so why not?! So, I cut off a teeeeensy tiny piece (probably only about a 4 bite "pre-band" piece). It should have taken me about 8 bandster bites to eat it. Well....because I was feeling cocky I ate it in about 4 bites and (in retrospect) I realize I was soooo cocky that I didn't eat it slow or chew chew chew (like I ALWAYS do).

Well, yup.... you guessed it. My band so eloquently reminded me that it was there. At first, I was like, "HA" I'm okay.....and about 3 mins later....KABOOOOOOM> Oooooooh, da pain. THANKFULLY, my pain/stuck/golfball/pressure feeling only lasted for about 5 mins and I just hung my head over the bathroom sink and slimed like no tomorrow until I felt better.

Yes, I know.....lesson learned.

The good from this? Even though sometimes my band may seemingly let "anything" in it will rear it's ugly head and let me know not to take it for granted. I have this love hate relationship with it but despite it slapping me upside the head yesterday (completely my own fault of course) I still love it.

Today will be a better day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
