Yoda's Jedi Journals (aka Yoda's Yammerin's)

Recommended Posts

I wasn't trying to be funny....just different and yes...a lil' Canadian. Although I did eat caribou sandwhiches for lunches when I lived in Yellowknife. (tastes just like roast beef if you ask me!).

And, no....so there are no misunderstandings, (yeeesh Cloe!) I wouldn't realllllly eat a whole hind leg!! ewwww!!!

hehe.

I would love to have Ben & Jerry over for dinner too!!! (that's kinda like saying "do you wanna meet "Smith and Wesson"?....not that I have said that!).

Good resistance to temptation you have been showing Mandi. Yay!

Cloe.....well, don't beat yourself up, you were (are) going thru a difficult time with the evil teen!! Glad u are over the McFs though!!! The fill will likely help as well!

Okay, so I didn't have any more fudge today. We also went out for dinner and I had 2 eggs, 1 piece of bacon and 1/2 piece of toast with jam. (and about 5 of Mr. Yoda's fries). So, not too bad.

Oh, and bought a nice new lingerie set.....vewwwwwy vewwwwwy nice. I needed a new (smaller) one ....as that is what we take my monthly photos in.....*grinz*.....and ya'll wonder why I won't post my pics!!!!!!

:paranoid

Now Wheezy....do you mean "meatballs" made out of moose meat or actual Moose testicles???!!!

(cause I just saw a show on prairie oysters (cow testicles) and ewwwwww!!!).

I had bear balls (not testicles....bear meatbals) once and I did NOT like those at all!! Very very very gamey tasting.

Blech.

Yeah that's what I meant, but I had you guessing. I heard about prairie oysters. Who would ever think, I wonder what cow testicles taste like? I think I will try some......

I had the moose meatballs in a spaghetti sauce. Couldn't tell the difference.

Sorry... I meant to reply to this earlier!

I have never, no! UGGGG!!!! I have never even seen them anywhere, except on tv, talking about them selling them at the Calgary Stampede. I just asked Dan, he's from Calgary... said he's never tried them or knows anyone who has! (he's lucky, cause he would not get any kisses, me knowing what he's had in HIS mouth! BLEH!!!!)

Okay, so I had today off work (federal gov't holiday for the 11th).

I got up bright and early (my day off!!!) to go to costco and get there 30 mins before it opened so that I could get my winter tires put on my car...thinking....how smart am I. Okay, well, much to my DISMAY, about 30,000 other people had the same idea this morning....despite my early arrival, there were already 25 people ahead of me in line. *SIGH*.

So, once they open, I snake my way through the line and get to the counter at 10:15 and I'm told it will be ready by 4:00. OMIGAWD>....I live too far away to just take a cab home (ie. nearby town) and so now I was STUCK. (I did have the foresight to bring a book, thinking I "might" have to wait 30 mins....but NOT over 6 hours!!!).

So, I called Mr Yoda (who did have to work today) thinking he would take pity on me, leave work and come get me to take me home. Nooooooooooooo. WTF????? He merely said, "go home and we'll try another time". But, c'mon, it will be like this ALL the time!!!! So, I called a friend who lives in the city to see if she could either take me home or I could hang with her but her phone was continuously busy for over 2 hrs (she has teens, so go figure!) and so I never got through.

So, not knowing what to do I just started reading my book. After 2 hrs, the guy took pity on me and asked me which car was mine. He then said it it would be ready by 1:30 instead of 4:00. Oh joy. (sarcasm). True to his word, I got it at 1:30, so I "only" had to wait for 4 hours!!!! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I got home by 2:00.

Okay....so the actual point of this is: I was now STARVING.....since I had my Breakfast (a few bites of toast) six hours earlier. So, on the way home, I thought how GREAT it would be to stop at Wendys and have a burger and fries; something I would likely have done pre-band days to soothe my frustration and anger of wasting all that time ON MY DAY OFF.....you know...make it all okay and worthwhile. (Keep in mind I haven't even had a bite of a burger since early April!). Anyways, I obviously did NOT stop at Wendys because I figured I would only be able to eat a few fries and that would be it.....so I came straight home. So, that is an NSV in itself.

BUT< when I got home I was so damn hungry I went straight for a bag of Salt & Vinegar chips that were in the house.....I ate maybe 4 chips (too fast) and felt icky (caught it in time though!) and then realized....okay...yeah, I have a band....I suppose thank god for the band. But on the other hand, I was thinking, "DAMN YOU DAMN BAND".

I'm a freak. I know it.

And now I have to try not to be pissed off at Mr Yoda when he gets home for not volunteering to come and get me earlier.

What a rough day.

SHADDDUP!!! I know it's all relative!!!! LOL....I mean, I KNOW I don't have a teenager driving me batty....(*hugs Cloe*) but it was still tough for me in it's own way.

By the way...did I mention that I froze my ass off literally on a cold slab of cement while I was waiting in the lobby area? Really...my ass is still sooooo cold......I'm gonna take a warm bath but I gotta wait for it (my ass) to warm up a bit or it will sting when it hits the water!!!

As much as I love Canada and being a Canadian I hate that we live in a climate that puts us through the damn tire changing season. Grrrrrr.

Okay, I vented (see Maria!!!) so I feel better now. I'm gonna go see if I can squeeze in one more chip now!

hehe

:guess

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
