Hello I am also new to the site. Had my surgery on April 16,2012. But have found that many times it is a matter of what I am eating or how fast I eat that makes it hurt. Are you staying with in the 2-3 ounces of Protein or food that you are eating? If you are then it might be how fast. I know that if if I stay within that limit of food intake but eat it with in 15 mins it hurts but info take the 30 or longer it doesn't hurt. If this is not the case I would call your surgeon and ask. Hope this helps some.

I totally agree with lmp817! It is usually what you are eating and how fast you are eating. What do you mean by "hurts"?

I was sleeved on May 3rd and have not had any pain since day 3 post op. I did eat some dry tuna that I thought for sure was gonna kill me...but otherwise have been feeling just fine. I eat really slow and anything soupy or super moist. As for being hungry, hardly ever! Are you getting all of your Protein in? Protein drinks (meal supplements) should help with the hunger, maybe even prevent it! If so, what type are you using and how are you using it?

What is stage 2? My stage one will be Clear Liquids for 2 weeks. Then weeks 3-4 & perhaps 5 is full liquids, I have to wait until I get released to pureed, then soft, then regular foods. You are two weeks out and eating solids already or is liquids that hurt.

yes my tummy hurt. And it hurt if things were really cold more that hot. I hurt sometimes if I drink too much Water. You soon get over the pain. I noticed I could drink Ice water the other day without pain. :)

Yes, my week 2 was pureed also. I didn't try the tuna until yesterday! I am not too sure about the Carnation Instant Breakfast due to calories and low Protein compared to those specifically for weight loss surgery or heavy training. EAS products from Wal-Mart are highly recommended. Try that and see if you are still experiencing the hunger. Also, are you getting in all 64oz. of liquids each day? That should also help with hunger.

Most of the time I find that when I think I am hungry it is when I am board. At this point it is hunger head and not actually me being hungry. It is more that I just want something to do and that s what I use to do. When they removed the portion of your stomach it take the place the secreats the hormone to tell you that you are hungry. I do remember feeling extremely hungry after I had my surgery and was on clear liquids, but that passed after I started to eat pureed foods. I now do not ever feel hungry and have to make sure I eat. I have set times and I eat at those times and that is it. I am still currently on Protein Drinks and take in half of my Protein that way, my doctor did say that I will not be on them forever but need to until I can take in enough protein. just remember to eat protein first and then if you have space eat other healthy things. and alwyas carry a bottle of Water with you and sip sip sip. this will help with the hunger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
