I Found This A Little Odd.....

Recommended Posts

So I'm doing a little research for my mother on getting surgery in Mexico and have contacted both Dr. Kelly and dr. Ponce de leon for info and pricing. What I recieved was the excact same informational letter and medical form. The heading and doctors names had been changed and the font, but other than that they were word for word. I just find this a little off putting. Do all of these doctors work together or something??? I just figured if they did and were in the same practice they would be contacted in the same manner and be on the same website. I am lucky enough to be able to have my insurance pay for my surgery which I get to have just across town. I just want to make sure I am finding out good info for my mother. Hopefully someone has some answers for me. Thanks. :o)

all i can tell you about those particular doctors is dr.kelly used to have a coordinator that now works for dr.ponce. maybe dr.kelly's office still uses the form his former coordinator used. i used successfully slimmer. they are based in alabama.

That is true. Trish used to work for Dr. Kelly and now works for Dr. Ponce. I would not be surprised if they used the same forms because they used to work together. I wouldn't expect someone to develop all new paperwork. That's probably why. Did you talk to Dr. Kelly directly?

My mom talked to Omar Dr. Kelly's assistant yesturday. He was nice and sent the paperwork via email. I filled out something on Dr. Ponce's website and they sent their paperwork to my email. I guess that makes sense that they might have the same paperwork.

Yeah that makes perfect sense. It's all just general paperwork anyway. Nothing special. Glad you had direct contact with Omar - they don't use the coordinator services like some of the other doctors. Also, if you end up going with Dr. Ponce, one of his other coordinators gives a better price. Someone else on here mentioned that... that made me more uncomfortable than anything. (as in, the coordinators charging people different prices for the same doctor) Just do your homework! :)

Omar use to work under Trish...he is probably using the same forms Trish used! Sad... I just had surgery with Dr. Ponce and he is awesome. His record is clean and he loves what he does. Trish also is a blessing. She was there for me through the entire journey. From the time I arrived to even today checking on me! Without her we Would have been lost! Choose carefully!

What's sad about it? They're doctor forms, not coordinator forms! Why woukd anyone care?? And having seen forms from multiple doctors, they all ask the same stuff! Most important thing is to get accurate info to your doctor prior to surgery.

Amen sister!

What's sad is considering a dr based on the forms his coordinator uses. When I go to a new dr I don't criticize him or his staff because the forms are similar! Of course they will be the same. All the drs, no matter what their qualifications are, should in fact be asking the same questions!

It wasn't just the medical forms I found was strange it was the personal sounding info letter about why I should choose each doctor. They are word for word the same minus putting a different doctors name in. It just seemed weird.

Trish and Omar used to work together, so probably why similar forms (and yes the pre-op diet is killer) . Omar is a great coordinator/bff/bodyguard while you are there and Dr Kelly is a wonderful doctor. Omar can get Dr Kelly on the phone with any questions you have. Both are truly nice people. I just got back Wednesday and am doing great!

Good luck on your journey to finding a dr. It was stressful in the beggining trying to figure out who to choose. Ask many questions and track record is a lot and experience. Good luck again.

Yes forms are forms.. Trish used to coordinate for both doctors and omar just moved over to dr. Kelly's.. To tell you the truth.. i had been up in the air about either doctor down to the last 3 weeks. I think they both would do an excellent job. I went to dr. Ponce de leon and had an amazing experience and felt very well taken care of, much better than the US docs. One thing that some coordinators might offer a lower price just depends on the location the surgery will take place. Dr. Ponce does his surgeries w/ trish at INT hospital or florence Health (same as dr. kelly) and it cost's the same. I had another coordinator who had dr. ponce at a lower rate but it was at the same clinic that dr. alamanza does his, that's why it was lower because it wasn't at a hospital. I loved going to INT.. i even got the video of my whole surgery that way if i had anything go wrong they can see exactly what they did. I'm not sure if other doctors offer this. I think either doctor kelly or ponce are really good at what they do. I just felt more comfortable with dr. ponce and loved going to him. I know it can be a tough decision but either way this surgery is an amazing life changing surgery.. i'm only 4 weeks out and down 33 pounds. Good luck on yours!! Much Love!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
