Hello all! I was sleeved on 4/16/12 and I lost 30 pounds very quickly. I've been stalled for the last two weeks. My bariatric surgeon deployed so I'm seeing a general surgeon for the moment. He says 1500 calories a day is about right and his nurse says 500. I picked 800 calories to be in the middle and I very rarely have that many. So my question is how many calories does everyone else have? I'm 5'3" and 220. Im starting to get very depressed' date=' what's the point of the surgery if I don't break 200? Is 220 as low as I'm going to get?[/quote']

Hi, I had my surgery on 3/5/12 an I was just like you I stalled and felt the same way but it only last a few weeks then i go back to losing like a pound a day for about a week then i stall again. Im not a dr but i cant see being able to get in 1500 calories a day. My dr didnt give me a number to shoot for i just try to eat three times a day. I know that it seems like a waste but at 214 I am smaller then i have been in over 20 years so i am happy. Just keep doing what you are doing and the weight will fall off :0)

I hope so. I'm getting depressed and frustrated. What's the point of the surgery if I don't lose weight? I could be eating all my fav tasty foods.

3 months! That's a long time! I'm really sorry you're having a tough time. The last few days I cut out ALL carbs and did drop .6. It was mainly lowfat cheese and Protein Drinks. Very boring but it seemed to work.

I have been stalled for 9 months!!! I think I'll try going back to the very basics and kick start something. Thanks for sharing.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
