Anyone Else Dealing With Low Blood Pressure Post Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I had normal blood pressure before surgery, right around 120 over 80 which is optimal, now I have been experiencing weird lightheadedness and have almost passed out a couple times after I stand from sitting or lying down. So I looked online and said low blood pressure could be a cause, went to the pharmacy and did my blood pressure it was 100 over 68 which according to online is too low for me (I am 23). Have a doctors appointment later today but I am curious if anyone else has gone through this, and if so how are you doing now, were you able to get rid of your symptoms, and how?

Your doc is the best place to go for this problem. I have had low blood pressure, but I was on BP meds. Although my bp was controlled, my doc had to cut down my dosage. Sounds like you have done fantastic since your surgery!! That is amazing since September!! I had my surgery on March 1 and I am kind of stalling a little bit. I have lost 36 lbs so far. Happy about it but scared of not losing!!

I have had low blood pressure all my life. Mine runs about 90/50 and that is totally normal for me, always has been. I do get light headed and dizzy upon standing sometimes when I have not drank enough. Its my que that I need to get hydrated! I think its a good idea to see your doctor because you may be a little dehydrated and that is what is actually causing the drop in bp when you stand. At least that is the case for me. I also will have some nausea too at times from dehydration. Its not a terrible thing to have low blood pressure. You just have to stay hydrated to keep the symptoms at bay.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Just got back from the doctor. My bp was lower then I thought. 90 over 60. My doc said it isn't necessarily a bad thing but with the summer I need to intake more sodium. He figures my body will adjust in time to the bp, just got to use the salt to make up for the sweating this summer.

Overall pretty happy its nothing to bad.

I was sleeved by Michel Gagner in Montreal on June 4th, and my b/p was 110/70 last wk. in my dr's office. This a.m. it is 105/52. I am on 8 mg./day of Atacand, and my dr. told me to continue taking it. I have no energy at all. I'm not sure what to do, as I feel a bit lightheaded at times. Should I go back and see my dr.?

Are you taking your Vitamins? Our bodies are adjusting to an extremely low amount of calories and the B12 will help with energy. Have you had your blood tests done again? Your Potassium and Iron may be low. My BP was all over the place while in the hospital. I was concerned because one reading was actually high but the doc said it was because of the pain.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
