Trust me this is usually the hardest part of the process. Once you get through this it will be much easier.

yeah, the liquid diet is the hardest bit of this I think. I only had liquid diet for 3 days pre-op, but that was bad enough.

Now I am on liquid diet post op, but it isn't as hard as I am not as hungry.

So if you can get through that liquid diet, you will be fine!

Surgery is May 30th.... this liquid diet is killing me...I never thought i would be this hard...all I think about is food even though I'm not even hungry...

I wish i can just sleep u till surgery

My surgery is May 31st.... And this pre op diet is so hard ... I just want cry sometimes. I'm trying to stay busy to keep my mind off food. This will be a hard weekend since its a holiday and we are going to parties Sat and Sun. I too wish I could sleep till surgery. Great idea!

I slept a lot and just stayed hydrated. The first 4 days was soooooo hard and when I thought I couldn't do it any longer I reminded myself constantly I am doin this for a reason.

Add spices to broth makes it more tolerable.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
