How Often Do You Record Measurements?

Recommended Posts

What is your personal schedule for recording measurements? I am weighing weekly, but am unsure as to what intervals to record my measurements.

I try to measure once a month. Otherwise, if the scale is not moving, I'll measure for encouragement, because I know there will be movement there!

I'm doing mine once a week, but I know a lot of people do them once a month. Just do what you're comfortable with.

I never started the measurements and I am dissapointed that I didnt. I know I have lost so many inches and I cant say how many...grrr! I went from a size 20 pant to a....drum roll please...a size 12!!! Yes, I went shopping last night and fit into a size 12 jean....sooo excited. Also from a 2-3x shirts to a regular size large...woo hoo! I would suggest once a month for the measurements. Best of luck!

Weekly for a while and once I saw that the VSG was going to work I went with watching how I fit in my clothes. I would then weigh every month. There just was too much up and down and no progress days that would be a downer when I was weighing too often. You will need all of the positive reinforcement you can get and nothing beats watching your sizes shrink in your clothes! Good Luck!

Honestly, just whenever I think about it.

I experienced a stall on the scale between weeks 2 & 3 but was seeing a difference in my clothes. I knew sooner or later it would happen & I needed to find something to keep me on the positive track. That's when I took my measurements & really wish I would have done it after my first visit with the surgeon because I know I've had some significant changes since I started this journey. I think I'm going to go with my monthly sleeveversary, too.

I weigh when I think about it or when I'm worried! I never did measure my waist or anything and I do sometimes regret that. I'd like to know how many inches have come off along with the 63lbs!

As part of my contract with surgeon I have to send in weight and measurements each month (using them as part of research) for at least 2 years. I am also taking a picture each month. Only 2 sets so far pre-op and 1 month post (I'm 6 weeks out)

I actually measure my inches every week. I get excited even if I lose a quarter inch! LOL :) I have a spreadsheet I log all my info in as well. All recorded and forumulated to keep tabs on all lost/gained/totals.

It's my Sunday morning ritual. That along with recording my photos, weight and body fat.

I am doing mine once a week. I started my pre-op diet on a Tuesday and took my measurements then and just decided I would continue to take them every Tuesday.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
