Where did you have your surgery? Did you go out of the country? Self pay? I am still waiting to hear from the insurance company.

Sorry that you felt crappy....have you lost much weight since the surgery?

Well...I was denied:(

I'm so sorry! You should be able to appeal the decision. Have you talked to the insurance coordinator yet? Good luck!

Hello everyone' date='

This is my very first post. I am 5'4" and weigh almost 200 pounds. I am having the VSG surgery in the DR, self-pay in July. I know that less heavy people loose at a slower pace... but how much can I expect to loose. I want to set my goal at 135 or 140.

My husband doesnt think I need it, but only I know m struggles. I wish he was more supportive like the rest of my immediiate family. My weight has been an issue all of my life. I have PCOS and am also afraid this might slow my weight loss.[/quote']

My mother was not supported at first but the day of surgery she had no choice I started off with 299 and now I'm 223 im 5'6 let me let tell you I have really bad PCOS and severe facial hair and I still managed to lose 76 lbs in 4 months and 4 days :-D good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
