Where the heck has Delarla gone?

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on much this summer, and have only in the past few days been catching up. I realized something' s been missing, and it's Delarla! Where the heck has she gone? I loved reading her posts whether they were her musings or wls support. Anyone know why she's missing? I hope it's just a busy summer keeping her away. She's the only person on here who made me snort coffee. ;)

I think a bunch of drama a couple months back caused her to lose interest. Not sure of that though. I loved reading her posts too!

Yup, there was a realy nasty period of time not too long ago and I think she needed a break from all the BS.

She wasn't the only one who needed a break from it.

I've enjoyed the peace and quiet personally. It's been nice not having threads where people (myself included) were being verbally assaulted.

I hope she returns. I am not sure what is up with the mud slinging this board gets. It seems to be specific people who tend to sling the fastest and the hardest time and time again. I personally dont like to get involved in that and when I see the mud flying just get out and have absolutely nothing to do with those threads. I, for the life of me, cannot understand why people would want to argue on the message boards, apparently their life has absolutely no drama naturally so they need to create it. Its a shame really and a major waste of time in my opinion. I also have noticed the slinging still going on, matter of fact, just got done reading some pretty wordy posts that did not sound so happy and shiny to me. So I hope she takes a break, goes on a convention or two and comes back to the board, I enjoy her posts.

Well, somehow it doesn't surprise me to read that PNut.

I will agree that her posts could get out of hand sometimes but part of DeLarla's charm is that she often says what others are thinking and wouldn't dare say aloud.

She was always upfront about her difficult, crazy up-bringing and had some really tragic experiences with her band. DeLarla herself would often in a better frame of mind realize she got a bit too emotional & delete postings. There were times it was obvious some of her manic rants were flat-out pain. I'm sorry some people here couldn't see that. Pnut, you and your cohorts went after her in a big way. There was one noteable thread where I swear it was like watching a pack of hyenas tearing into its prey.

That's about the time I quit hanging out here much.

And I'm sure you don't miss me either.

And I'm almost positive later I will think I should've kept my mouth shut, but I just can't let that sentiment stand.

Truer words have never been spoken. DeLarla adds more to this site than some people can only hope for. DeLarla, DeLarla, where are you? This is 3Loaves calling. WE WANT YOU BACK!! Come back DeLarla!! BTW, it's nice to see you back Kare....even in this small way. Maybe you should update us on the garden thread. Would love to see some new pics.

Wait, it's OK for Delarla to be abusive to others because she's suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder? What about the trauma she causes while she's exorcising her daemons? Is it alright for her to behave badly because sometimes she's funny, entertaining, or insightful? I don't think so.

I enjoy reading Delarla's posts, she has a unique perspective and expressess herself with flair; however, she's careless of others' feelings while demanding to be treated with absolute respect. Unfortunately there are fewer things that deserve respect, IMO, than someone who must be handled with kid gloves. If you're going to dish it out, you've got to be able to take it.

The primary goal of LBT is to provide a place for people in a similar situation to meet, gather information, and support each other. How can you trust in the support of a person if you must always wonder if THIS will be the time they explode like a timebomb? Even if Delarla comes back to LBT as Lisa, her more rational persona, I have to say I would still be wary of her for that reason.

DeLarla....only she can cause trouble by not even being here. Wait, maybe she's not the one causing trouble. I've seen some pretty heated words exchanged since DeLarla's been gone. I also see a common denominator. Anyone else notice?

Just her name makes some people cringe b/c they can't stand the idea of not being the center of attention. I miss DeLarla. Come back and share some love will ya? Or at least post some pics from your Dallas convention.

I have been in contact with Lisa and I don't think she will ever come back. I for one will miss her around here, I emailed her and told her so. I plan to keep in touch with her outside of here, she is a sweet and thoughtful person and with or without a band she is a band sister. I am not here as much as before the last big blowup, nasty things were said and people were attacked in every direction. I post 99% positive supportive things and even I was getting nasty PM's. There are a few people that felt that they could come in and take over LBT, that in my opinion was wrong and people that I care about were hurt and ended up leaving. I considered leaving in April but because of Paula and several others kind PM's and emails I have stayed. I am not here nearly as much as before and I don't think I ever will be a "regular" here again. I guess I was tired of people that were not banded telling me that what I was doing was wrong or telling people that I had given bad advice. I look at it like this, I lost 75 pounds in 1 year, I know that is "only average" but I am tickled pink about it. I know that others have lost much more much faster, but this isn't a race. I am only 20 pounds from goal and I have my life back, that's what it's all about to me. Not the games that the people here play. I come here to help newbies and to stay in touch with my friends. I miss the LBT that I joined last year. I don't think it will ever be the same and I really think that is why Lisa left, she too saw the changes as being permanent. I'm not saying that I know for sure why she left, and I'm not claiming to speak for her, but I know that she is missed by at least me and several others. ~Mandy

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
