How Many Times A Day Do You Eat

Recommended Posts

I had actually misunderstood my guidelines & they were clarified for me today. My surgeon says to not have more than 3 meals a day, but to drink between meals & with drinking I should do Protein Drinks or crystal light with Beneprotein to get all the Protein in.

Yeah, I kinda feel like Cat and Wheetsin, I can't tell the difference between a snack and a meal. I pretty much have something next to me all the time. Just finished my tuna salad and right now, I have an orange next to me. I won't eat anything on my train ride home, but then I will grab a couple crackers with cheese. Probably have Soup for dinner and then a couple more crackers with cheese after that. In the morning, I'll wake up to a Protein shake, then a banana, some prunes and then turkey chili, then back to my orange. I am pretty much eating all day long. When I am not eating, I am drinking Water or a gatorade type liquid and I try to space that out so I am not eating/drinking at the same time.

That's exactly it! Pre-Sleeve days I might go all day without eating and pack 3,000 calories into one meal and after dinner 'snack". I am not kidding.

I figure now that my blood sugar is pretty steady all day long - no spikes and dips.

I am 4 months out. My info and stats are at the bottom of my post.

If you eat all day how do you fit in liquids if you have to wait 30 minutes before and after I have not figured that part out yet

I try to eat 6 times per day. Sometimes it is only 5.. I am 5 weeks out. Here was my schedule yesterday:

S: 1/2 Protein Bar

L: 2 oz deli turkey & 1 slice pepperjack cheese

S: 1 oz deli turkey & 1 slice pepperjack cheese

D: Tilapia filet

Between eating times, I drank 60 oz of water/crystal lite. I am working up to getting more Water, but it is hard.

I eat 3 meals a day and 3 glasses of milk. That is what my nurse told me to do.

I eat between 4-6 times a day. It depends on how busy I am. Also, "eating" includes my morning Breakfast of a Protein Shake. I agree with everyone. There does not seem to be a difference between a meal and a snack at this point!

I was given strict instructions of three meals a day and NO snacking!! And the only thing I am allowed in between is Water. I do sneak in a fresh fruit juice before I go to gym, or else I get all dizzy, but I haven't had this cleared bu my nutritionist, yet.

I would never be able to get all my nutrients in at 3 meals a day. Do you manage it Nadz?

That's funny Nadz, because at my last appt. Sahar wasn't there and I met with one of the doctors who told me that a sleeve patient should be eating every four hours.

I eat a lot more solid Protein that you do. Today I'm eating 4 oz of tuna and 3 oz of ground beef and one scrambled egg. I usually have a fruit and a vegetable every day. Do you always eat so much fruit?

Nadz - 3 meals a day and no snacking would truly kill me. I would be over-full after meals and starving in between.

It just goes to show that there is not one single formula for success.

Carly, I saw you mentioned that earlier. The eating plans I was given only accommodate 3 meals a day and at my initial consult dr Osama said only 3 meals a day.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
