Hi! I went to a seminar on VSG about a month ago and in that month I have decided to follow through with the surgery and will have my surgery on May 30. It's all moving quickly, but I am confident it's the right thing for me and all the peices are falling together nicely. :)

I am 36 (will be 37 1 month post op) and have been overweight for 18 years. Yikes, that's half my life. I never noticed that. I am married and have a soon to be 7 year old child. I am self pay (financed), and my highest weight was about 2 months ago at 306. I am now down to 292, and will start my pre-op diet in a week.

I just wanted to introduce myself as I have read basically every thread on this former and was feeling very stalkerish. :) I wish all of you the best of health!

Hi! It is very easy to stalk around here. I did it for weeks before joining as well. Good luck to you!

Hi! I just went to the seminar on Thursday. I had already made the decision to get the sleeve due to all the people I know that have gotten it and been successful. I know exactly what you mean about feeling like a stalker on this forum. I have been reading it for a couple of weeks and just joined yesterday.

I haven't gotten any dates yet. Still waiting on Insurance qualifications. Good luck to you!

Welcome! My surgery is tomorrow. I'll be 37 in August. I'm married & have 2 daughters (12 & almost 8). I've been overweight since my first pregnancy. My highest weight was 310 in 2008. My highest recent weight was 279 two weeks ago when I started my pre-op diet. I lost 12.6 lbs. I haven't been able to get below 274 in the last 6 months, so it feels great to be at 267 now. My ultimate goal is around 150-160 lbs. I'm 5'8.5"

Feel free to check out my blog (listed in my signature) and become my friend on MyFitnessPal if you use it - my name is mygastricsleevelife there.

Welcome! Good luck on your journey! Happy Mother's Day!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
