2-Weeks Out - What Do I Ea That Tastes Goodt?!

Recommended Posts

Ok, to yesterday I went to the Dr for my 2-week check up. Ended up in the hospital overnight for dehydration. Feel 90% better today. Dr also changed me to a soft diet and we talked a little about what that would include, but I need some practical help from those that have been through this.

He told me moist meat, thought chicken would be too dry. He also said I could have fruit with no seeds, no skin and nothing packed in Syrup. No veggies because they might cause stomach upset.

So, what does all that boil down to. All I can see is tuna mushed up with a little low-fat mayo, ... Would this be a good time for the lasagna cupcakes (and other types) that I have seen on the website posted by others or is this too early for that? What did you eat?

I am the soft food phase and some of the things I found help is Cottage cheese ( 4oz is 12 grams of protein); Anderson's split pea Soup ( 8oz is 10 grams of protein)

To get moist chicken I was told to put it in a crock pot with broth, seasonings, or lowfat sauce

You might want to try ground turkey meat if he is okay with chicken

At 2 weeks I can have chicken that has been boiled or in the crock pot and then put through the blender and make it like chicken salad same with fish beef isn't added until week 4 harder to digest.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
