What did/do u guys do to deal with the dreaded head hunger. I know I am not hungry' date=' but I still want to eat all the time! Need some help with this one....[/quote']

It can be incredibly strong cant't it, as food is an addiction for many of us who eat for a whole range of reasons, or for no reason at all! Twelve months out I am getting a bit better at identifying real hunger as opposed to head hunger, but still haven't mastered it. It may help if you are tracking your food intake. If you know logically that you have eaten enough already and shouldn't be physically hungry, then try to accept that and find something to do by way of distraction such as exercise. Try to avoid activities which trigger wanting to eat. I find if I go out shopping I get the urge to go to a coffee shop out of habit, but if I watch cooking shows on TV, it's almost as good as eating. If you are struggling you could keep a diary each time you feel hunger and make a note if you think it is head or real hunger and what you were doing, thinking or feeling at the time. You could also always eat a healthy snack! Good luck.

Thanks Kelliv. Your advice as always makes perfect sense. I do track my eating thru my fitness pal and I know it is not real hunger. Just boredom I think. I absolutely need to find something to distract myself.

Good luck, Donna! You must be all finished and in recovery by now. :)

I have an appointment with a gastroenterologist next Wednesday. I can't wait because I have been in such misery. I honestly don't think it is from the surgery though.

In good news, I lost another kg today. Only a couple more kg until I am at the halfway point!

Also watch the meals where you may have more carbs Helen as I find that I want to snack more afterwards. If you absolutely must have something to eat have a bite of Protein or half an Optifast bar/shake-it does help-especially if you hate opti like me.Lol!.

Thank you all so much for your well wishes! I had a rough night last night to be honest but was just needing to get the pain and nausea under control and all was well. Though I had to fight to not use a pan to pee in! I couldn't do it lol so I just nagged at the male nurses (lucky me lol) to let me go to the bathroom and one finally caved!

So today I have been up and about and sipping Water and broth - slowly but surely.

Again thank you for all the support its so great to know people are thinking of you! Xo

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
