Hi everyone!

I'm looking at getting sleeved next year (April) by George Hopkins at Chermside. First appointment on October 17th! Hoping to use hubby's super to pay for it. As a mum of three I'm looking forward to being healthy and setting a good example for my kiddies :) I'm on the lower side of BMI (36, not that that's low, lol) and was informed I wouldn't need to do Optifast, which is a relief! Think I'll just eat veg/fruit/lean Protein in the lead up to cover my bases. Looking forward to getting to know all of you amazing people!

Welcome JJW, congratulations on making this decision to improve your health. Any questions just ask as someone here will probably have an answer. Hopefully the time will fly between now and next April. Do you have co-morbidities or been recommended to have this surgery by your GP, as your BMI is under the usual 40 they look for before having WLS? Most here will agree it's been the best decision they ever made. I am just over 12 months post op and ave lost 35kg with only another 3 - 5 to go.

Hi to all and welcome any Newies .Congrats Bec we are traveling on similar paths .I am down 28 kilos since starting .This is including 2 weeks preop so that's about 8 th may. Each month changes for me and the amount and types of food certainly have changed. So to any new people don't despair as I don't think there is anything I can't eat.Just much smaller portions.I hope this never changes.I think this is going to be the best thing I have done for myself.

My hair thinned at about the 3-6 month mark, but it stops after a while. It seems many of us have experienced this and it's nothing to worry about. My hair is as thick now as it used to be.

I am dreading this stage...

I have started using loreal elvive Shampoo and conditioner called "anti hair fall". Anything is worth a shot, right? Hopefully it will help although I am fully expecting to start seeing some Hair loss over the coming months.

I'm losing heaps of hair but I'm not sad about it. I have ridiculously thick hair and it gets so hot in summer. I'm looking forward to it!

I finished week 7 of Couch to 5k by running for 25 minutes straight! I'm so proud of that.

Also people at work, in my band etc have really started to notice my weight loss. People have the oddest reactions. An Indian man I barely know at work came up to me and started squeezing my upper arm, like feeling it! And said he couldn't believe how small my arms are now. Bizarre lol! It just makes me laugh. I'm only a few kg from the halfway point and yesterday was 4 months post-op.

I am still having a lot of bathroom problems but they are different (and worse) since I had the flu last week. I am going back to my GP for the 5th time in a month on Tuesday and getting a referral for a colonoscopy because I am so sick of this. I really don't think it's sleeve related but I think I might have ulcerative colitis or some other IBD.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
