Hi,

3 years and 7 months ago I had weight loss surgery--sleeve. I was so scared that I would gain the weight back--because in the past I always seemed to gain it back. I learned by making a lifestyle change and eating healthy and including exercise that I do keep the weight off.

I have started to exercise more lately, because I feel so much better when I do exercise. I have learned that those of us that exercise love all kinds of exercise. For me walking has worked. I am 66 and it is something that is easy to do. I purchased something that allows to to track how far I am walking each day. I purchased a NIKEPlus and it comes with a chip that you put in your NIKE shoe--NO you do not feel the chip at all. It is amazing because when I get home from my walk, I plug the NIKEPLUS in the USB port on my computer and it records everything about my walk that Ijust did. It tells me how fast I walked, the calories I burned and how far I walked, what my pace was. What an amazing little device. It only works with NIKE shoes. It was worth the $59.00 I paid for it. It also allows you to set goals for yourself. Today I walked 4.55 miles. I have walked for the last 10 days in a row--even the rain. :D

My point is make the lifestyle change, eat healthy. Do I ever have a desert--sure I do, but only in small amounts and NOT everyday. I have learned to cook differently and healthy too. I love cooking now. If you make the lifestyle change from the very beginning, then it just makes it that much easier to do for the rest of your life. :P

Hugs,

Suzanne

It is great to hear of a long term success. I am only three months out but some of these lifestyle changes are becoming second nature. Thanks for sharing your inspirational story!

Hi,

Thanks so much. That is the reason I wrote this. I want people to know that they can be just as successful. And getting out and being able to exercise is something that I enjoy too.

I used to HATE the thought of exercise and now I know how good it feels.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Awww thanks so much. The longer you do this the easier it becomes for you. And when you reach your goal, it will be so much easier to just keep doing what you are doing.

Hugs,

Suzanne

:) thank you... you gave me hope... I am very traumatized from being huge before.... but you are so right!

There is a lot of feelings and emotions that go along with weight loss and having surgery. I am glad that what I said helps you. I want you to know that you can be just as successful and I have been.

You have all the knowledge to make it work.

Hugs,

Suzanne

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
