Doctors are a very personal & individual choice. That being said, I would never have any surgery done in Mexico. For those of you who do, God Bless you and I hope it turns out well. It seems there are many people here who are happy & had positive experiences.

I paid $13K for my sleeve in DFW where it as done at a great hospital only three miles from a level one trauma center.

However, when I was 33, I had gall bladder surgery that turned into a 9 month ICU/ re-hab ordeal. So I view surgery different than most.

Good luck to all!

I love these boards! Please let's stop bickering and just support each other!

I never would have considered Mexico either till I started researching it. I talked to a few places here in CA and the doctors were rude and unapproachable. That's not what I want. I've met people who have been back to a few of the Mexican doctors WITH THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS! There is no better referral!!

So let's get back to supporting each other please!!! It's making me stress. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
