I had my surgery April 2 on April 4 my doctor told me I don't need my diabetes meds anymore. My numbers run 97 to 105 great numbers huh that was my main reason for this surgery.

Wow....that is awesome news! I'm not diabetic yet but with two parents with Type 2 I'm sure it will be a factor someday!

I'm so happy for you!

I am writing this reply with tears in my eyes. Thank you so much for posting this article. Diabetes is my primary reason for having this surgery. I've been so hard on myself since my diagnosis. This article is so inspiring as well as the other post that stated the diabetes medicines were stopped two days post op. I am praying that I too can one day share that same story. Thank you so much! May God continue to bless you along you wl journey.

I am having the surgery because of diabetes as well. My health is the most important factor for me.

I was not diabetic, but was "borderline". My fasting blood sugar was always around 99... year after year. Even more concerning was my A1C number was high. Since my surgery, my fasting blood sugar has tested in the low 70s and my A1C is completely normal. This seemed to have happened really fast post op too. I am so pleased because I have 3 siblings with diabetes, it was definately "in the mail" for me and I have hopefully prevented it from turning into fullblown diabetes. What a lifesaver (literally!).

Hi, I am new to the sleeve world. I am in the very beginning and will be self pay. I have thyroid issues and have been borderline diabetic for 5 years. As the years have continued my sugars have become worse. I sincerely hope to get this weight off. I have not been under 200 pounds for over 15 years, since my first child.

At this point I feel like my life is on the line. If I don't do something drastic I wont be able to have a good quality of life, or even be alive. My triglicerides are also high.

I do work out and have recently changed to gluten free. I have at least 4-5 more years of school and if it wasn't hard enough to get a job during this economy I need to be more marketable, as well as survive to pay back these loans. I can't believe how cheap the student insurance companies are allowed to be. Graduate students are under a lot of pressure and have a lot of debt. We are an investment. If I stroke out the schools and government won't get any money back. Its wild. Someone needs to do a cost benefit analysis....

anyhow greetings all!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
