Wondering If I Am Weird?!

Recommended Posts

I am 8 days post op and feeling pretty good! The first few days were perfect...no pain, no gurgles, able to get most of my Protein and all my liquids down. Basically, this is still the case, and I am very thankful, but I also wonder why I am not having any of the complications I read about?! if it weren't for the incisions, I would wonder if anything were done to me!!! Of course, the lack of hunger is a good clue, too!

Consider yourself really lucky. I am at post op day 5 and I get the gurgles all the time. Today is the first time that I was able to get in any Protein.< /p>

Weird is like crazy. If you're wondering if you ARE, you're probably NOT. That's not always true, but you know what I mean. I had very little post-operative discomfort...and I'm VERY thankful for that. :) Enjoy it. Savor it. And don't brag too hard about it. ;) LOL

I am the same way! I am 3 weeks out and still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have had none of the issues I hear others talking about. I hope it continues:)

That's it! Waiting for the other shoe to drop! I will continue to be thankful and try to be careful about not pushing my sleeve limitations too hard. What I love about this website is the ability to speak on anything and everything without ridicule.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
