Did The Preop Diet Make You Feel Like A Bear?!?

Recommended Posts

Day 4 preop diet and I realize I am so grouchy. Everything gets on my nerves. Is this temporary or am I the only one who feels like they are super edgy? I so want this surgery but I don't want to feel like I'm turning into a grouchy B because of it! :-(

Me too! I'm just hungry so I'm really praying I'm not as hungry after I'm sleeved. I just fixed my kids dinner and my head is POUNDING! I'm thinking I'll be pretty happy to finally get knocked out for a few hours on Wednesday morning!

I'm on day 5 of my pre-op, surgery is in 4 days.

I've been super duper tired. And weak. I worked this week, but I have a desk job, so it was ok. I always saved my last Protein shake of the day until I got home. Walking the 6 block to my car just wiped me out. Then driving, my arms just felt so stinkin heavy.

My husband has been great, he would take care of the kids and get them supper while I laid down for half an hour every day after work. Last night, though, he was really tired, so I gave the kids their baths. I was totally dead after that. Just so weak.

I know that feeling! Every muscle in my body feels weak! Just lifting my purse feel like a huge task. I've been on the liquid diet for 11 days and it really has made me weak. I'll be so glad when i get the surgery done and get to have creamy soup! I have 6 more days to surgery. Good luck!!

Head hunger was an issue for me after surgery - I had only a 2 day preop diet but now I am 2 weeks into my 3 week clear liquid diet so believe me.....I feel your pain! My brain still wants to eat sometimes, but I have zero hunger sensation from my new tummy - its very cool! I have my moments each day and it hasn't been easy, but you can do it!!! Feel free to inbox me with any questions - :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
