Egg Salad For Egg Day?

Recommended Posts

I'm able to start eggs tomorrow and egg salad sounds dreamy! I don't really know how to make egg salad but I think it has mayo/mustard. anyone have a recipe for egg salad they use that doesn't have any harsh ingredients for my sleeve to start out on?

I take the yolk out, and chop up the white part. Then, I mash the cooked yolk in a bowl, add mayo/mustard and a bit of salt and pepper until you have a thick, creamy mixture. Add the cooked egg whites, and stop together. I'm sure one egg will be all you can get down. I'm just concerned about the mayo upsetting your new tummy, let me know how it goes!

mayo might be bad? my nut had mayo on a list of approved foods to add to tuna/chicken to help it go down. I didn't think of it being upsetting. maybe I'll just try a scrambled one for a while...

gosh, egg salad sounds good though!

I love egg salad, but I still can't tolerate eggs (7 wks). Take small bites & eat slowly until you know it's going down smoothly!! Ps. My NUT had mayo on the approved food list, but I like the light version cuz it tastes the same!! Oh, to make it I use a fork to mash up the whole egg, add mayo, mustard, salt, pepper & a dash of paprika :)

I put the eggs, light mayo, dill relish with some juice for flow, salt and pepper ALL in my mini blender and just went to town until is was smooth. It was awesome. Sat very well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
