Can't Get My 64 Oz Of Water In!

Recommended Posts

One of the HARDEST things to do is get the 64oz in. I love Crystal lite in Water. Don't forget to count broths/soups, popsicles, coffee, tea, milk, ect. as liquids. Start with an attainable goal then gradually work your way up. All we can do is try each day!

Yep, anything that melts in your mouth and becomes liquid in your stomach goes towards the 64 oz. I had a hard time keeping up with everything I was drinking because I was doing a variety and the logging got crazy, so I got a 10 oz container and poured everything I drank into that container and just added a mark next to 10oz each time I finished one. Except of course Jello and Popsicles, but it worked for me!

I didnt hit my fluids goal until MONTHS out...I think I was 4 months and some days it is still a struggle. I used Special K2O a lot but now switched to MiO yummy...plain Water used to burn my tummy. Just do what you can and eventual you will.

I agree the Mio flavors are yummy. I didn't care for crystal light.

Don't worry about it. It takes time to build up to that. Just do the best you can. You are still healing and your stomach is still very swollen.

Help! I'm 2 weeks post op today and there is absolutely no way I can get 64 oz of water/water based drinks in a day! Any body else have this problem?

WElcome to the club. I am the president, vice president, secretary AND treasurer of the "can't drink all my liquids" club. All you can do is try. Don't forget to count the liquids in Protein drinks, juices, etc... they all count for 'fluid' intake. Your capacity to take in fluids will continue to increase. You'll get there. Maybe I will too. ;)

As you can see from the posts, you are not alone. I am 5 weeks out & still have trouble. Water hurts or feels heavy in my tummy. I have to have a certain kind of water, only out of a certain bottle, only on the hour mark...joking! I think it just takes time. I reward myself for each bottle I drink!

I find that warm liquids go down much more easily than cold. chicken broth, clear onion Soup, tea, and even hot cocoa (I'm barely getting in any calories anyway so the little bit of extra calories and sugar from the hot cocoa doesn't concern me). I actually drink almost no plain Water whatsoever - my sleeve definitely doesn't like cold water (at least not yet) and other temperatures don't appeal to me right now either.

Me too! I'm so worried about something happening to me due to dehydration. I think I'm getting around half of them in. I actually tried to drink and not sip and it came right back up. :/ I started to drink 10 oz of Gatorade a day. But I'm hoping to build up to the required daily amount. And don't get me started on Protein.< /p>

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
