Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Ten weeks and down 40 pounds. Whoo hoo! I'm still eating a lot of soft Protein - scrambled egg, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, and a Protein Shake a day. Some chicken is okay but a lot of the time it feels so heavy it's not worth the risk. Calories range from 500 - 700/day and i've got a pedometer to make sure I take at least 5,000 steps a day. I know the goal is 10k, but some days are just lazier than others!

Love to hear how we're all shrinking!

Ok....so let me start by saying.....please don't take what I'm getting ready to say as a complaint in any way. I am so thankful for my surgery and wouldn't change my decision if I had the chance.

I am in a bad place right now so I need to vent and hopefully get some advice.

I was sleeved 4/24/12. Since my consultation appt 3/28 I'm down 58 lbs. Yay! I'm so excited about that! BUT.......I have not felt well for several weeks. I'm never hungry (which is not a bad thing) but it keeps me from eating like I should. I even have alarms set on my cell phone to remind me to eat and I still don't eat right. I actually forget to eat....NEVER thought I'd be able to say that. I stay nauseous a lot of the time...even when I take nausea medicine. I have not been getting in my Water and I probably haven't had a Protein Shake in about 2 weeks. I am still excercising. I play softball with my church, go to zumba class and walk about 3 miles. I'm doing something almost every day. This is my thing.......I know I'm setting myself up for a fall! Let me give you an example of my day.....This was today.....I had about 2 tsp of egg salad. I drank about 1/2 of a 16 oz water...then I went to softball practice and sweated my butt off. While at practice I drank another 16 oz water. I got home and had about 2 tsp of homeade chicken salad. I'm working on another glass of water right now. I didn't reach any of my goals. I know if I don't do better I'm gonna end up flat on my back. I don't like feeling nauseous so I think I just put eating out of my mind and I can't stand Protein Shakes so I have trouble making myself drink them. My nut is so very strict. Basically she wants me to stay on the same old bland food......eggs cheese Ham Turkey yogurt ........that's about it. Blah!!!! I am not a cook I'm not creative when it comes to cooking and worst of all.....I'm a convenience eater.I am always on the go with my boys, working, exercising, etc! A lot of times I just need to grab and go and the things I need you can't just grab and go. So I think ok I'll eat later and then later never comes.

I just don't know how to get on track! I don't know what to do! I put on a front but I really just want to feel good!

Ok, so here is the thing...dehydration will make you sick to your stomach and run down. If you are playing softball and sweating that much, you are right. You are in trouble. I am not sure about what your nut has to say, BUT if it were me, I would add in some low fat cheese sticks, some sugar free popsicles, and some watermelon. Even when you don't feel like you can drink, the sf popsicles will give you fluids. Start drinking some low calorie gatorade. I think it will also make you feel better. It did wonders for me and was easier to get down than plain Water. It is very low in calories. You might also get the pedialite pops and freeze them.

I do know what you mean about food just not being very appealing. I feel the same way. Don't be afraid to pull from your early food list like Soups as well. I also make ground turkey with taco seasoning. Then I just portion it out add a bit of shredded cheese. A dab of salsa and bingo. One very flavor packed meal.

Get yourself a small cooler. I got one at Walmart that has a hard plastic insert, but is soft sided. Pack your chicken, egg or tuna salad in it, some cheese sticks, and a low calorie gatorade or a Powerade Zero (less than 1g of carbs). Then dump in some ice. Take that to the game. When you are on the bench waiting to bat, eat a few bits. Next inning, drink some gatorade or powerade. You are no longer like the others that can chug away, so you need to do what is right for you.

Have fun, but take better care of yourself or you won't get to enjoy anything. Hugs and take care.

The Queen of Stalls made it to Onderland!!!!! May I have a cheer? So excited! I made it yesterday but the ever positive girl here woke up with some serious vinegar that lasted all day. Even had a rough nite sleeping. I am guessing hormones although I am post menopausal (sorry guys for TMI).. Is anyone else finding a grouchy bug that shows up when your weight goes down? I would seriously like to exterminate it.

Made my way into L shirts from a 2x (5 inches gone from my chest) go figure. Now I want the w off my pants! Sleeved 4-24 down 24 lbs.

Best wishes to all of you!

Surgery was April 16th, down 50lbs...and still wearing the same clothes. Still. Though I've gone from a D cup to a B cup, which makes me cry.

I've had lots of plateaus so far. For instance - lost zero lbs this week. Same for a couple weeks ago. And a couple weeks before that. I seem to plateau the week before my period, every time. It is annoying me! Lost most of my weight the first few weeks, but not much in June. Ugh.

I was also sleeved on April 16. I am down 48 pounds. You are two pounds more than I am and I don't get periods. Had parts removed back in 2003. I also seem to have lots of stalls. There is nothing consistent about this for me either. I have yet to buy new clothes of any kind. I already owned a smaller bra and some smaller undies all of which I can wear. My legs and arms are smaller, but I don't feel as though I am losing much in my belly. I think for me, this might be the last thing to go. I am not an Apple shape either. My weight has always been pretty much all over.

Hang in there, we are losing and better a bit slow for our bodies health. Hey, I have had very little Hair loss, so that is a bonus!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
