3 Weeks Post-Op And A Stall Since Last Week

Recommended Posts

I'm going through the same thing! I was sleeved on 2/21/12 and haven't lost anything in over a week. From what I've heard this is normal....we r going to lose eventually ....I'm not stressing over the scale!

I had my stall two weeks out and I thought I was doing something wrong because I has always heard it would be week 3. The stall lasted about 2-3 weeks. I'm week 6 (jan 31 surgery) now and I broke my stall and have been losing a pound every other day--give or take. I've lost about 35 pounds so far.

Talk to your NUT maybe they'll have you up your caloric intake. Also Protein and water! Remember NSVs (non scale victories) like being able to walk further or fitting into a shirt better etc! Also, measure yourself! I wish had I done this because when u aren't losing weight you can be losing inches and I obviously was but don't have a record of it.

Lastly don't let the scale control you. Pick a certain day and morning time weigh yourself. Don't become obsessed.

Happy Sleeving!

I was sleeved on 2/29 and I'm starting to think something is wrong? I've been trying to stay positive but the scale doesn't help. I've put my scale away because honestly it's depressing. In the past I would have handled this frustration with all of my favorite foods, after all what's the point of doing all this work and not losing. One great thing about the sleeve it's forced me to stop my old habits. Eating is something I have to do on a daily basis but not something I enjoy doing anymore. Hopefully we will be on the loser side some time soon. Hoping for some lower numbers when I hit my month????? I have been exercising and I've very proud of myself. I've been getting my Protein in and logging all my calories. Yesterday I walked 4 miles and did little bits of jogging. With that said if I don't see some changes in a month I know something is wrong! Ugh so frustrating.

A stall is sooo frustrating, isn't it?! I'm 7 wks out tomorrow & I had a 3 week stall that started around 3 wks. I was feeling so discouraged. I went to see my surgeon this last Monday & he seemed perplexed....asked about my eating, exercising, etc. Had zip for suggestions! So, I had been at 285 for weeks & then Tuesday I weighed myself & it was 281. Today it's 278!!!! I could do cartwheels I'm soooo happy!!

Hang in there! Seems like the body makes up for lost time..... 7 lbs in 4 days is a good indication ;)

I noticed that my (almost 3 week) stall happened when I started incorporating food back into my diet! Just before 3 weeks I started having yogurt, refried Beans and scrambled eggs... Then BOOM... The weight loss stopped! I figured the body went into give me give me mode after not eating for almost 3 weeks and was trying to keep all those nutrients which caused a weight stall! Guess what I did yesterday?? I ate MORE! 3 meals! A full yogurt for Breakfast, as much refried Beans as would fill my tummy without being over full (2 full spoons maybe a tad more) an iced coffee at Hastings and then about 15 beans out of a cup of Wendy's chili (beans and liquid only) then I weighed and tada.... 2.5 lb loss!!! Yep!

I think I noticed the most inches lost was during the stall too! I have not yet freaked out about the sleeve, I just keep listening to my body and adjusting to what she is saying!

I'll be 3 weeks this Monday and I stalled last week too. I'm not freaking because I expected this. My surgeon did too. He told me to take my measurements and keep it moving! I've dropped 33 lbs so far & that's a miracle in my life already! I'm going to keep doing the right things and continue on this journey because I'm in it to win it!!

Tamou37,how much have you lost until you stalled? (since surgery)

dont worry when we are better we will go walk and then we are going to rock this sleeve.

Thanks ladies. Can not wait to stop on the scale and find good figures.

Desertmom, we should go for a walk 3 times per week around Marina walk.

See soon.

Hey Tamou and Desert Mom- good luck with the walking- and measure yourselves! That'll be a great way to track loss....

Wish I could join you at Marina walk...

OMG! I am so glad to hear that I'm not alone. 4 weeks post-op and the scale hasnt moved in days. I have been beating myself up about it, but I am really noticing the inches coming off. I am thinking about just throwing the scale away, and only weighing myself once a month!

Ur weight gain at surgery is from the air pumped in ur stomach...it will go away over time--walking helps..I was like 10-15 lbs higher day I came home and it takes a week or two for the all the air to leave ur body..I still feel some air come up when I drink and I'm 6 wks post op tomorrow

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
