Thanks guys...I know I just joined the tram but I LOVE being on the losers bench! Just did 3 laps. Only thing getting me is these stinking waves of nausea, but if that's it I'll take it! Feel so blessed :) thanks again for all the support!

I never had a leak test. They said it wasn't necessary. Maybe my surgeon is cocky. Yeah, that's it.

I've never heard that before. I thought that a leak test was a "must do." Anyway, congrats on your speedy recovery. Keep it up!

Congrats. Definitely love that morphine. Make sure you keep up with the pain. I managed a mile or 2 a day while in the hospital. Now that I am at my brothers, the weather is horrible and I have no treadmill. I get up and walk around the dining room table several times and downstairs and back up again. Wish I were home home so I could at least use my treadmill. Keep up the good work and continue your super speedy recovery.

Yeah, I got ice chips too - ask for some! Also, if you are having major nausea ask the nurse for some meds, they pumped that stuff right into my IV and no more nausea instantly!!

I didn't have one after surgery either once in my room. When I asked if I would have one, they said that they always do one in the operating room right after surgery. If any complications arise afterwards they will do one, but not necessary. So far so good :D

The best advice I can give you is when your getting out of your bed get ur butt to the farthest corner of where the bed folds and sit the bed all the way up. Support your belly. It hurts at first (bad) but it gets better day by day. I am 6 days out and can finally sit up without crazy pain. I didn't really have the gas pains that everyone talks about. Good luck to you!

Good luck to you all....WindyCityMom and I had a morophine pack epidural we didn't get the happy button....we were up walking as soon as we got back to our rooms....we were let have tea and apple juice and Vitamin Water right after surgery. we had to wait til the leak test to get the broth though....man was that broth good....we were all looking forward to that...funny how deprivation of a little food can effect people.

And the above post that said the hard part is over...well pretty much accurate! Now it is all will power, you have the tool and your body will help ya out with the will power thing....your mind will say "3 cm opening....hmmm that is not going down" and you will gladly choose something better for you.

Welcome to the "Loser's Bench"

Ok so post op day 2 sucks!!! No getting around it. I now understand the "just try to stay hydrated" I've never experienced nausea the way I did yesterday...despite zofran and compazine around the clock! The only good news is I'm now post op day 3 and much better! Still slightly nauseas with certain movements and oddly enough when my 5 week old twins scream it goes right to my stomach (my partner carried not me), but able to hydrate. Still can't imagine eating...have no appetite whatsoever. The other thing to remind people getting vsg...they pump you up with so much Fluid during and after surgery that you shouldn't weigh yourself in the week after or you'll get discouraged! My tech partner was s/p vsg in September and is down 85 lbs...she warned me of this and for shits and giggles I got on the scale...I started this process at 325...down to 310 for surgery day...was 316 post op day 2. Luckily sh had shared this tidbit with me. Ok well I'm off to keep hydrating :)

Thanks again for everyone's wellwishes and good luck to those who just had surgery or those with upcoming surgeries!!!

xoxo

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
