I just love this website :)

So I have a lapband now that is not working. I will go and have my lapband to sleeve revision on May 3.

I have read so many good things and everyone seems to be so happy with this surgery.

Is there anyone out there who wish they would have never gotten this surgery? and why??

JUST CURIOUS

Hi,

To be honest, in the beginning I had regrets because of the issues that I was having and the changes to my body that was taking place so quickly that mentally I wasn't able to keep up with it. I was scared and had second thoughts about why I had the surgery. I lost 28 pds the first month. It scared the crap out me. But now after the weight loss slowing down, and I started going to counseling, I am ok mentally and happy with myself and the way I look.

The only thing I have is acid reflux, never had before the surgery, but with control and changing of the types of foods I eat, I have been able to manage that.

I am one year and four months out since my surgery - down from 298 to 167 and loving it.

Edith

The first 3 days I had some major regrets....but then I stepped on the scale 3 days post op and saw I had lost 5 lbs and it totally flipped a switch in me. 1 week post op and I have lost 12 pounds...I will NEVER regret this life changing surgery again! I can't wait to lose more and do all the things that I have always wanted to...this surgery has given me my life...and for that I will ALWAYS be grateful!

No regrets unless I regret almost 50 pounds lost in two months, blood pressure normal, sleep apnea gone, cholesterol normal, blood sugar normal and the complete inability to overeat.

I suppose I could gain weight if I shoved soft serve ice cream down my throat, but I have no inclination to do so.

I would say I definitely had some emotional issues to work through the first couple of months. The fact that I coudn't eat huge amounts anymore was a bigee. But now I wouldn't trade my new thin me for anything. No regrets.

I don't regret it for a minute. Or even a second. That said....

There are a couple of posts on this site where people have regretted it temporarily, and maybe even one or two who still do. I only mention those because you need to see EVERY aspect of the surgery and go into it fully informed of the fact that there is a teensy percentage of a chance that you could get a leak and things can go unexpectedly. The national average is 1%. My doctors average is .01% (which is EXcellent). It was a risk I was totally willing to take. Having health issues from being 200 lbs. overweight was a much bigger risk. Hope this helps.

I have had a lot of issues to deal with and several set backs too. As I write, I am sitting here hooked to any IV. But my opinion on the surgery is: I was dying before and now I am getting healthier. I was crippled with pain and now I can walk. I was on 21 meds and now it is 5. I weight 42# less than when I started. My surgery was Valentine's day and I have lost 24# of it since then. I have also taken off the extra 30# they have pumped on me in IVs and steroids this month. So, I guess you can say that I have actually lost 72#, but I only weigh 42# less That was the long way around of saying, no regrets, just lots of losses

I'm on day #5 and things are are great so far. I returned to work today and nobody even has a clue that I had a sleeve done last week.

I do have to admit that the "I can't believe I did this to myself" thoughts began running through my head last night. I guess I don't have regrets, but I will be glad when I can begin eating regular foods. My wife and I are close and we have always enjoyed eating our diner together and having conversation. It's been a difficult adjustment for her as she tends to eat alone. I told her it will get better.

I don't regret a thing, especially not the 44lbs I've lost. The hardest part for me is not being able to eat as much as I'd always like to at any given time. Sounds dumb because that's WHY I had the surgery, but sometimes I'd just love to dig into some comfort food and it's just not in the cards any more. I'm still new to this (2 months out) and still adjusting, learning but I don't regret anything at all.

Not being able to drink with food is hard for me too.

I'm 4 days post op. I regretted it for the 1st 3 days. Why did I do this? I was in so much pain, and couldn't get anything to go down. It was terrible... I'm starting to see some light though. I was able to have some broth tonight, take my anti depressant, and actually watch my kiddos out in the yard. Can't wait to be climbing on their jungle gym with them. those first 3 days post op are a killer though. And that was from someone with no complications. I couldn't even imagine if I was one of the unluckies to have a leak or other problem. I'm not regretting it as of today and hopefully not in the future either. Good luck!

I'm 2 days post op. Cried like crazy last night of what I've done to myself. The pains are horrible .. keep trying to keep in mind the end results will be worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
