I weighed 222 on surgery day - so during surgery and the 2 days in the hospital the IV fluids managed to allow me to gain 6 lbs.

Lost 4 of them in days 3 and 4 post op - days 4 and 5 have not seen the scale move.

But I'm sure I am not done yet! :)

NSV's -

1) Have not taken any diabetes medications since two days before surgery (I was on 3)

2) Have not taken any high blood pressure medications since one day before surgery (I was on 2)

Pretty sure the high blood pressure medications are done. Not sure if the diabetes medications are gone forever, but my numbers are really good and I do believe that once I start eating real food again and exercising at a deeper level, those medications are history too!!

Those were two of the main reasons I had the surgery in the first place so it is already winning BIG in my humble opinion!!

liberated

welcome to this site. speaking for myself, and probably many others, improvement of there health is one major reason people have WLS performed.

in my case i also have diabetes, i took meds and insulin. DOS 12/15/11 my PHP told me to stop all meds for diabetes. i was told to stay off the med til i saw my PHP again shortly after surgery. Now, no more meds or insulin per dr. couldn't be happier.

hopefully with your decrease in medical problems, i will right behind you.

continued good luck and best wishes

kathy

Congratulations! Improvement or resolution of diabetes and hypertension are major reasons for me to have the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
