Walk Walk Walk!

After surgery my shoulders hurt so bad I honestly thought that they were dislocated.

Walking did help...but you just have to get all the gas moving out.

Walking has helped me so much. I just had surgery the 8th. :)

Yes, walk walk walk! Doctors say the pain is the gas! I also used GAS X strips. Walk every chance you get even if just once or twice around the hallway :o

Get some chewable Gas X or strips and walk! It is gas that had been put into you to expand during surgery,

My shoulders really hurt, too. I found that a heating pad on them really helped. Turn it up high.

Yes, heating pad was a lifesaver in the hospital! I second the gas x strips and walking. I have to walk when I drink anything to help it go down smoother.

I thought the gas only last a few days. I haven't been sleeved yet but that's what I've been coming across. Any idea how long the gas pain lasts?

I'm 5 dpo and I'm still having some gas, just not as much. I have the most when I'm drinking and right after I finish. But my gas pains were not as bad as some of the others I read about. I felt most of it in my chest but didn't get the refered pain to my shoulders.

Its different for all. I was bracing myself for the gas pain, but was lucky and had none. You just never know :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
