2 Month (Kind Of) Post Op Results - 1/28/2011 To 03/08/2012

Recommended Posts

So yesterday I had my two month (second) post op appointment. Total number lost from 1/28 to 3/08 was 18 pounds. Getting a bit worried, I feel like I can eat a lot more than I should be able to and I'm always hungry. Doctor says this is normal and that weight loss will keep decreasing in numbers as I begin to add muscle and my body gets used to the sleeve. My clothes do feel baggier and my back hurts less but again I'm getting concerned. My doctor prescribed an appetite suppressant that I will begin taking to help with the constant hunger. Is anyone else on the same boat? If so please tell me it gets better :(

An appetite suppressant? It seems like he would have given you an acid reducer first, since many people think they are hungry when it's really an acid problem. Are you working out a lot? That will definitely affect how fast the pounds come off because muscle does weigh more than fat. However, 18 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, especially if your clothes are getting looser and you're feeling better.

Good luck! You're doing great!

Hi Lissa, I thought the Nexium was for heartburn and acid re flux? He did prescribe this to me but I never took it because I never needed it. Luckily out of all the foods I've tried there hasn't been anything that hasn't agreed with me. When I think about it I'm assuming the doctor thinks I'm taking the Nexium which is probably why he gave me an appetite suppressor? As for working out I go to the gym an hour and half each day five times a week. All cardio right now, moving on the weights next month.

You might not actually be hungry - acid often mimics hunger. You might need the reducer, not the appetite suppressant.

Biggie - O was sleeved two days after you. I went through a week or so when I thought I was getting hungry all of a sudden (it was upsetting to me). I took the advice many have given on this board and started Prevacid. Boy did it work! I guess it was acid, even though I wasn't having any issues with reflux. Good luck to you.

Biggie, Your doc probably does think you're taking the Nexium, so he's now added an appetite suppressant. Before filling that Rx, why not try the Nexium for a couple of weeks and see if it helps? I didn't think I had acid issues either, but my doc started me on pantoprazole and suddenly I didn't have any hunger anymore, and that was at 3 months out. I am amazed at the difference! I never had heartburn or reflux before surgery, so I wouldn't have recognized either after surgery either.

Good luck! I hope it works for you! :)

I will definitely try the Nexium and see if it helps with the hunger. I will report results back :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
