I think am going to ditch my scale it lies a lot lol.:D

Actually I think getting rid of your scale wouldn't be a bad idea. If you're like me, you have other places you can weigh yourself -- at the gym, at your doctor/nutritionist's office, etc. And getting rid of the scale at home will help you kick the habit of obsessing over tiny, normal fluctuations.

I do think when u are losing weight, your scale gets confused its not the same amount of pressure on it so it gets wacky....I had to adjust mine..some how it magically moved from -0- to like 3 pounds when I wasnt standing on it.

You are right...the scale lies to us sometimes!

One way to make it lie slightly less is to step on it with something heavy in your hands (I use the magazine basket full of reading material and extra TP in the bathroom) and then step on it again a minute later to actually weigh yourself. Even the digital ones can get "stuck" at a number, so using this method helps them get "unstuck"--my dad told me his doctor had told him this, and I definitely find it happens on my scale (no way was I actually exactly 197.2 for four days, for example...) So, try that!

After the pre-op diet, I weighed 243 going in to surgery. On day 2 post-op, I weighed 255. I had not had anything but tiny amounts of broth & Jello, so I didn't know how this could be. I know they loaded me up with fluids, running 2 IVs at a time , but didn't seem like it could be that much. My dr said everyone's different, but that eventually, I'd pee it all out. I had surgery Monday 4/9 & today I am finally down to 243. I have not eaten food since last Sunday AM. I just wanted to share because it certainly alarmed me to gain 12 lbs in 2 days, but what he said is happening. I was so discouraged to think that after a week of Clear Liquids I hadn't lost even 1 pound, but my husband told me he can tell by looking at me that I have lost weight, especially in my face. So the scale can sure bring you down! I think I am going to follow the advice I've seen here & weigh only occasionally rather than every day like I have been.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
