  1. After the pre-op diet, I weighed 243 going in to surgery. On day 2 post-op, I weighed 255. I had not had anything but tiny amounts of broth & jello, so I didn't know how this could be. I know they loaded me up with fluids, running 2 IVs at a time , but didn't seem like it could be that much. My dr said everyone's different, but that eventually, I'd pee it all out. I had surgery Monday 4/9 & today I am finally down to 243. I have not eaten food since last Sunday AM. I just wanted to share because it certainly alarmed me to gain 12 lbs in 2 days, but what he said is happening. I was so discouraged to think that after a week of clear liquids I hadn't lost even 1 pound, but my husband told me he can tell by looking at me that I have lost weight, especially in my face. So the scale can sure bring you down! I think I am going to follow the advice I've seen here & weigh only occasionally rather than every day like I have been.
  2. Just a suggestion, but I made homemade chicken noodle soup for my family tonight & I just ate the broth & the flavor was a lot more satisfying for me than just store bought broth. I had surgery 4/9/12 & dr won't allow soft foods until 4/17/12. I had to find something different. Considering making vegetable beef & doing same thing for tomorrow.
