Can you eat chicken?

Recommended Posts

I can eat chicken as long as it isn't breaded and is cut into small bites and chewed well. And it also has to be with some type of sauce....not dry.

I can not tolerate chicken not one bit, and it been hard because thats all I used to eat, period (the only meat). But now ONE BITE of any kind of poultry (especially white meat) will do me in. It hurts SOOOOO bad, and my lap-band doc thinks Im nuts, now I know there are others like me. I just hate I cant eat chicken anymore, but I live on low-fat beef patties now so, and Im adjusted to eating beef more so I dont even miss the chicken

oh dear, *sigh* yes, i feel your pain.. I LOVE chicken too and i simply cannot eat white breast mean anymore. It just gets stuck and i pb. Also i would advise you not to eat the skin as that caused me great problems. As many wonderful wise people above have told you, if you moisten the chicken, it would greatly improve the chances of you being able to eat it again! (fingers crossed!) Maybe you can make some gravy?

Hope this helps and that you are back eating your favorite chicken asap!

Best Wishes

As I mentioned in another thread here, I have not had restriction yet, or PBs and i'm at 80% of a 10cc band, it's really starting to make me wonder about if the band is on right etc etc.

I can eat chicken, and anything else you can name, and other then one incident with a piece of pizza crust that I didn't chew, nothing has ever given me the "golf ball" sensation. I don't know what to do, because on top of all this, I'm basically an over thinker on most of these types of situations. I will analyze everyone elses restrictions and eating abilities and compare them to my own until I go insane.

I never seem to know from one day to the next if I can or cannot eat chicken. Some days I am fine, others not fine at all. For me chicken is one of those "do I feel lucky today" meals....and my band will decide if I am or not. Go figure!

I haven't had any problems with chicken at all - in fact I'm cooking some right now. I bake it in apricot preserves and Russian dressing and it's so GOOD!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
