Size 18/20 Lane Bryant Mystery Pants Nsv

Recommended Posts

Back in 2008 I was on one of my diets, and I was 265 lbs, my aunt game me some clothes that were too big for her and she had hardly worn. In the bundle there was a pair of 18/20 Lane Bryant pant (95% polyester 5% spandex) that would not fit, fast forward 2011 and I am 380 lbs so I gave the pants to my grandmother. Back in the beginning of February my grandmother gave me the pants back, she said I haven't worn them but they look like they almost fit you. My grandma is a seamstress, and she had taken the pants in on the sides because they were too big for her, so I was skeptical, I thought she was looking at my behind with love and thought it would fit in those pants. Anyways, today I am looking for some business clothes and I found the pants in my drawer and I said let me see how much longer till they fit me. AND THEY WENT UP! All the way, they are super tight on me put they went up, I am guessing they are so tight because of the line of stitches running on both sides my grandma did for them to fit her. Why do I call them mystery pants? because according to my scale I am 277 and they fit, but when I was 265 back in 2008 they didn't fit!

Doesn't matter what the scale says, I am a happy camper!!!!

Paola,

I think this is awesome! I was reading your post and for some reason I started thinking about the "sisterhood of the traveling pants". I don't know if you have ever heard of that but I believe it was a book and then became a movie about friends who have a pair of jeans and they pass them to each other and even tho they all look different the jeans have a "mystery powers" because they fit all of them. lol There is much more story to it than just that BUT It just reminded me cause of how you said you and your grandmother kept passing them back and forth and then how they fit now but they didn't fit back in 2008! lol

Anyways enough rambling lol I loved your post! Thats just a great example of why we shouldn't worry so much about the number on the scale as much as losing the inches!! Great post!

P.S. You have done amazing at all of your weightloss!! Keep it up! I can't wait to start my journey soon :)

I have some mystery pants too! Back about 6 or 7 years ago, I had dieted and gotten down to about 170. I wore a 14-16 in jeans because I am quite curvy. I went to the outlet stores and I bought this pair of size 14 short, Tommy Hilfiger jeans. They were skin tight but they looked awesome on me. I loved these jeans. They loosened up as I washed them and I wore them often for about a year. Alas, I started gaining yet again and could not get them over my hips. I packed them away. Fastforward to today. I am only 6.5 pounds lighter now than I was then, I dug them out and said, well they may still be a little snug but I think I can make it work. I put them on and they are at least two sizes too BIG. WOW. They are so baggy it looks like you can fit another person in here with me. I look like a hobo. I put on a belt to hold them up and wore them anyway. I sit here now with the waist gapping all out from under the belt and saying... what was I thinking? I cant explain what happened. I dont understand how only being about 6 pounds lighter could make that much difference in these particular jeans. Off to goodwill they go! All this week I have been wearing tight 10's. I firmly believe a 10 in these jeans would be loose!

It is an awesome feeling when things you think aren't going to fit, fit. I have some jeans with tags I bought a year ago that fit when I bought them, but I didn't wear them straight away and then they wouldn't go past my thighs. I put them on and they are big on me, they are baggy in my bum, and fall off my waist. Its awesome!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
