Need Comebacks For "easy Way Out" Crack

Recommended Posts

A dear lady in our support group requested the participants to give her some comebacks for folks who, when hearing of her sleeving, say,"Oh, you took the easy way out!"

My comeback is to quickly lift up my shirt and display my beautiful scars and say, "Does this look easy to you, genius?"

Anyone have some comebacks that work for you?

It is not a come back but I always say " follow me to the gym every morning at 5:00am and then tell me it is an easy way out". The sleeve is a tool that provides a restriction that aids in the weight loss and keeping it off. You have to dedicate to a lifestyle change as far as eating properly and exercising. I do not let anything anyone says bother me, I did this for my health and I am healthier now than I have been since my teen years. It looks like you are well on your way, let your results speak for themselves.

I haven't had anyone actually make that crack to me, but my comeback would be "Sure, it's the easy way out. Much easier than dying from the complications of obesity I was experiencing!"

I haven't experienced it either yet, but that's not to say I won't. I would challenge them to live like they're sleeved for a week. I'd put a sleeved persons portion of food and 80oz of Water in front of them and tell them to survive on 3 meals that size per day and drink all the fluids in a day, then have them ride my 8 miles every night with me, tell them to get up and go to the gym in the morning with me, and have them do it for a week straight, then ask them how "easy" that was.

How about, "Me taking the easy way out? What about your short cut to being an idiot with the brainectomy you obviously had?"

I've already stated in another post that i'm not a violent person, but the first one that says that to me is gonna get punched dead in the face!!

" Too bad they do not have a surgery to fix stupidity"............if they have the nerve to question my decisions then they have not idea how much hurt and pain most of us who have been overweight for most or all of our lives have suffered from people in society. I do not have any problem giving a little back. If this person was a friend then they would not be for long. Surround yourself with people who support you and not all those who are constantly negative.

A while back someone posted a comeback they had used and it was about people who say its the easy way out and if they can lose 10 pounds on the liquid diet, why not just keep that up. Their reply was "can you hold your breath for one minute?"... okay, hold it for the rest of your life. Anyone can hold their breath for a short while, but its a little more difficult to do it long term. I thought this was a profound statement.

i've told pretty much everyone I know about my surgery and no one has ever said anything like that to me. Then again, I only care about the people I love and their opinions. Other people can struggle with their own opinions! ;)

The easy way out is sitting on the couch stuffing your face with junk...yep. That;s the easy way out..... to your grave.

I agree. It would have been a lot easier for me to NOT leave the country and have 85% of my stomach taken out in a serious surgery. I'd be a lot unhappier at over 200 lbs, but nothing worth having ever is easy.

I haven't had anyone say this to my face, but if they did I think I would just say "So what, I also drive my car instead of walk everywhere." This has been easier for me than dieting and knowing that I would fail in the end ever was.

Easy way out? When was the last time you sewed your own clothes? Made butter? Hmmm.....I guess we ALL take the easy way out. I just chose the one that made a damn difference in living or dying. What's your reason?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
