Need More Than Cardio I Think .. Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey all :)

So i have various cardio workouts down.. but I am sure I need to add strength training of some sort into my workouts and not just jog/run/walk/jog/run/walk etc .. but I have NO Idea what to add and still continue to lose. I think my body is getting to use to the treadmill.. no matter if im inclining or not.

Any advice? I dont want to go pay 90/session for a trainer if I dont have to!

Well I'm a huge believer in tae bo, even before I had my surgery I was working out to the dvds and lost 35 pounds. That was about 2 years pre-op though and before I had a kid lol. But now post-op I'm doing tae bo 5 days a week or more and he has strength training embedded in the workouts with cardio.

It's worth a try. It works wonders for me. I got tired of just the treadmill I felt like I was getting stuck in a endless routine, and also felt like I was not working all the parts of my body, even with incline like you said.

Try it out, you will see results, I'm dripping with sweat even though I've been doing it for a while now, every time I finish I still feel like it's a great challenge for my body. :coolgleamA:

Compound lifts are good to do in the weight room to help maintain muscle during weight loss. Such as squats (ok to do on smith machine), deadlifts, military press, dips, incline bench press and especially pullups (assisted if needed). Don't worry about moving weight like a powerhouse or olympian. Make sure it's just difficult enough to do a few reps each set. Just do these about twice a week and 3-4 sets each exercise and do no more than 6/8 reps each set. Also, this muscle will help keep your metabolism running a little higher. Just remember to get in your Protein, especially the lifting days.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
