There is a lot of stuff flying around about Dr. Kelly.....I am just wondering if anyone who has seen him in the last three months could post and let me know about your experience and how it went? There seems to be a lot of negative stuff being said and/or implied, but I am sure there are lots of positive stories out there as well and would love to hear a few.

I was there in May and had a wonderful experience. Yecats just got home and is doing well. I don't know when she'll see this, because she's tired. Maybe you could send her a private message?

I was there along with Janet56 on 1/18. Both of us are doing extremely well. Neither of us had any complications. We stay in touch with Dr. Kelly and his wife via email. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. All the back and forth blabber going on in this forum and Gastric Sleeve is just crap. The only thing the coordinators do for you is email you the pre and post diet and make hotel arrangements. Dr. Kelly's wife has taken over those tasks. Ladies, this is no big deal. Trust me.

Call Dr. Kelly and speak with him yourself. I did. BTW, could you imagine calling a surgeon in the US and asking him any pre-surgery questions? Not on your life. You'd ask his nurse or someone is his office or you'd get a pre-printed "what I need to know about my gastric sleeve surgery" pamphlet.

I know surgery is a big deal, and everyone on this forum should choose the surgeon they feel most comfortable with. But seriously, all this wasted talk regarding the coordinators is making everyone take their eyes off the important stuff - the doctor.

Although I used Trish (LOVED HER!!), I'd like to back this statement. However, if Trish didn't contract with him I would have found another route to get to him.

I just got back from MX . I was sleeved by Dr. Kelly on Feb 4th. I have had no complications and am doing wonderful. I am up and about and feeling great. He was amazing. He was available and visited when I was at the hospital and then visited me at my hotel. He is a very caring and dedicated surgeon. The reason I chose him in the first place is that I noticed that is seemed to me from this board that his patients seem to recover very nicely, also he has a lot of experience.

I do believe he is going through some changes and everyone is not going to like everybody all the time but I have to say, I felt geniune concern from him and he made sure I was comfortable. I also had a sleeve sister and he treated her with the same care.

On an added note, without going into detail, the night before I left he went out of his way to make sure that I was leaving MX prepared. He did not have to do that. I am forever indebted! I recommend him highly.

P.S. I refer to my sleeve as my kelly belly... I know i sound like an advertisement all the sudden but I am not . I am a real person with a great , real experience.

Congrats and glad you're home and feeling good. Mexico was an experience right? I had a great time. Even though I had surgery I felt like I was on a mini-vacation.

I just tried to call 1-877-765-THIN to book the sleeve with Dr. Kelly. I'm not sure whats going on.... The rep (her name was Sandy) said that she does not book for him anymore because of several incidents with Dr. Kelly and many complications. She said that with the last 2 surgeries, the patients needed their chests cracked open in order to complete surgery. Now Im scared. She said she would book me through Dr. Garcia. Anyone heard of him?? I dont know what to do now.

I'm being sleeved on 2/15/12 by Kelly. I'll be happy to give an update and send some pics if you want.

That would be great if you could post. I am going on 3/14, having my surgery on 3/15. I feel comfortable with my decision, Dr. Kelly has done a lot of surgeries, but it's always good to get the reinforcement. I hope you have a great trip and all goes well. :)

Forget Sandy and read earlier posts. Everytime she opens her mouth the lies get worse. Just call dr Kelly on his cell and drop Sandy. You called his old coordinator.

Two things, that is coming from a coordinator for whatever reason does not book for him. If that is the case then so be it, should she unprofessionally smear him. He is certified in the states as well, he would be stripped of his license if he was not capable.

Also, just say a dr. does 100 surgeries, he might have maybe 0 or 1 issue, if you do 1000 (more experienced) you might tend to have 2 or 3 issues.

two, we have had a surgeries with him. He is caring , compassionate and strives to know your well. I am tickled with him!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
