5 Days Post Op-Stomach Growling? Hunger Pangs?

Recommended Posts

OK I'm only 5 days post op and I am noticing hunger pangs and feeling hungry and even stomach growling. I thought you weren't supposed to feel physically hungry this early on? I am getting plenty of fluids in. I don't get it! Guys, help me out here. I'm a newly sleeved lady who doesn't understand what I'm going through completely.

It could be the acid in your stomach. That's what my tummy does. It feels and sounds like hunger pains, but it's really not. I try to ignore it most of the time or drink Water.< /p>

I'm also 5 days post op and having THE SAME problem.... I went to the store and bought a chunky Soup and a Hamilton beach mini blender and puréed the soup... I'm supposed to start purées in 2 days so I didn't think it would hurt.. It was about the same consistency of applesauce... Not recommending this but it satisfied my hunger... I thought I'd go crazy.

Very, very normal. I'm about 2 and half months out and i used to have the same issue during my first week out of surgery. Just stick to your diet plan and ride it out and you will feel better i guarantee it. Its a new, weird feeling during the first 2 weeks your body is in shock and is trying to adjust to the new, or modified stomach.

Good luck.

I am 4 weeks out and my stomach groans and growls every time I put a full meal into it. I guess I process food very loud.

I too feel hungry pains when I am scheduled to eat. When I feed my belly it subsides. We are all different.

I'm 3 days postop and my tummy growls so loudly that it has woken me up from a dead sleep. I don't think it's because I'm hungry, I think it's just a new way of life for me.

My tummy is growling less today. Thank you guys for your posts. I know its normal now. I am trying to get used to this tiny tummy lol. I am going to be trying some creamy Soups soon and I cannot wait.

I think it is acid. Are you taking an acid reducer?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
