June Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I love that we have this June group so we can all check in with each other. We are all getting nervous & excited at the same time, and are curious or commiserating once the surgery is happening. Thanks, all. My surgery is in 1 week!

My sister and I went to Mexicali last monday with Dr. Aceves and it was an amazing experience. We were in a private hospital and it was SOOO clean, people were constantly cleaning our rooms and checking on us. Everyone was soo nice and very helpful. They contacted us when we got home just to make sure we got home ok and even before the surgery they kept in contact by email and also provided soooo much information regarding the surgery. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Aceves!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck everyone. I'm a week out today. Feeling much better, but I'm struggling with getting Protein in. Gotta find a nutritionist and get to work on some ideas. Lots of stuff making me gag.

Good luck everyone. I'm a week out today. Feeling much better, but I'm struggling with getting Protein in. Gotta find a nutritionist and get to work on some ideas. Lots of stuff making me gag.

I had the same problem and everything I used to like I started to hate. Worry about getting as much Fluid (water, crystal light, decaff tea, etc.) in and perhaps try Isopure or Cytomax nectar for the protein. I spent way too much money on different Protein Shakes and I hated them all (even my favorite pre-surgery) and something happened yesterday and I was able to get my Pure Protein down again. It was just a weird change in my taste buds and thankfully I can now handle protein shakes. It still isn't that great and it's a little hard getting down but I was afraid I would never be able to stand the taste again.

Good luck.

Has anyone found out what scientific process happens that change one's tadte buds? I hear it time and again and am so curious. I am a picky eater....don't like eggs, broccoli, many cooked veg. I am hopeful all of these things will be yummy in the future, but can't figure out why that would be!

I dont know the scientific process, but I can say yes your taste buds do indeed change...alot of the Protein Drinks I had in my house before surgery makes me ill now

Yay Little bits, congrats!!! Dad, how are you feeling? PEvette, I'm so glad I am not alone. I actually liked Muscle Milk and right now thinking about it makes me sick. I loved my Pure Protein 100% whey Frosty chocolate and I hated it so much I went 1-1/2 weeks without trying it again. I have had them two days in a row, while I don't LOVE them, I can at least tolerate them.

Thinking about the smell of chocolate does something gross to me tummy. I am craving tuna, Pickles, Tabasco, and I would be fine if it was all mixed together. I couldn't get in 3 tiny teaspoons of 1% cottage cheese smashed up today without my stomach feeling like it was rolling over on itself.

I'm bummed but one day I am going eat a pickle and tuna and slurp on some tabasco.

Mina,

Thanks for asking! I am at home doing pretty well. liquids are not a problem, pain is not much of a problem, and I am resting well.

Since I tend to be very wordy and like picture, I am blogging this on my blog, for anyone who is interested. The current post is part one (the surgery/recovery portion) of my transition over to the loser's bench. Part two will be how I am doing at home. Here is the address to go to: Officially-On-The-Losers-Bench-Part-1

Have a great evening!

Eric

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
