Yes, the August meetings at St Joe's are on the 6th & 20th (1st & 3rd Mondays at 6:45)

I missed the last meeting, we were vacationing out of state, I should be able to make both August meetings, hope to see you there!

Mer...

Sorry I missed you, I'm sitting here catching up on stuff as my feet throb. We "toured" Seattle today, my DH's cousin and family are here from England so we took them around Seattle today. We went to the EMP, Seattle Center, and the underground tour (lived here all my life and I've never seen the underground). My feet are tired! We're going to Wild Waves tomorrow. My sister-in-law told me today she wants me to come...so she won't be the only fat one there...grrrrrrrrrrr. Wait until next year!!!

How's the new fill?

I'm so excited!!! my first fill is scheduled for tomorrow. Do any Dr. Srikanth patient's know what the diet is supposed to be for after. I'll find out tomorrow, just curious. I know that I'm on Clear Liquids from midnight on tonight.

I'm planning on going to the support group at St. Joe's on Monday so hopefully I'll get to meet some of you.

Question - I've been stuck at this weight for the last two weeks. Should this fill help with that? Does anyone know typically how much they put in at the first fill?

Thanks everyone,

Most first fills that I've heard of on the 4cc band have been 2cc give or take .2cc, though I have heard some start with only 1cc. I had 1.8 at my 1st (only) fill on June 25, and I'm definitely not there yet, I need more. I go in on the 13th. A friend had 2.2 at the same time and I think she's still feeling pretty good with that.

Good morning - - got banded by Dr. Brad Watkins at the NWWLS and am feeling pretty good for two days out!! I just keep walking.....it definitely helps.

Still looking for a support group in the Kitsap area, can anyone help?

Thanks,

Hi all,

I didn't end up getting a fill. Have had pretty bad sinus this week. Argh. But I have lost a few pounds. That's always good. I decided not to reschedule. I really am plenty tight now that I think about it. Just been leaning toward soft liquidy foods....which can be bad for Portion Control. Have to work on eating the small amounts of real foods that don't stick, which can be difficult for me...but that's what we're supposed to do. BUT, I'm doing ok.

Mer...

Sounds like you're on the right track.

I love to sarcastically annoy my children with the little “make good choices” nag, sure is frustrating when that same phrase is nagging at me!!! It’s all about choices, and we’ve made the big one, now it’s following everyday with the constant little choices (listen to me preaching to myself…LOL)

Hope to see you soon, are coming to the support group on Monday?

Sue

PS...glad your loosing b/c I'm stuck...how can the scale say the EXACT number everday!?!

Hi Sue, I think that first 30-40 lbs comes off really fast.....then you have to work at it and use the "tool". I kind of remember Dr. Oh's girl saying that.....when our bodies figure out what Dr. Oh and Hirai did to it...it goes into a kind of rebellion and we have to work a little harder to get the metabolism going on. Then there's our "fat heads" that we're dealing with, too. There's still stuff to work out. food doesn't help with anything that's bothering me in my heart. Neither does new clothes, or new sewing machines, etc. Now that we've just about taken away the "comfort" of food.....well you get it. We have to deal with our feelings. Fun. Not. I found that I'm really angry with my husband for selling his business, frittering away the money and starting another business from scratch. Screwed us all up, including my daughter, who has had a tough time finding another job since he sold and the new guy didn't want her full time. She just got a fab one and started last Monday, thank God. But everything was fine when we had the old business. We always had enough money, Bec and Jon had good jobs, I felt relatively secure. I don't like starting over. He was unhappy running our business......so I agreed for him to sell. So I'm dumb, too. OK, now I'm prattling on......

Hey there! It was so nice to meet you today. The meeting was so short! Our longest has been over three hours, but we almost ALWAYS go over an hour. Then again - we are usually inside... with music... and beverages.< /span>

Have a great trip and see you in September.

Mer...

Glad to hear things are going well for your daughter.

Don't you wish you could flip a switch and change your emotional release to something constructive like exercize. When my DH is frustrated he can't wait to run himself into a good sweat and the last thing he wants is food. I guess opposites really do attract!!!

Hang in there...I'm praying for you guys!!!

Sue

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
